Okay. I'll keep digging. Looks like I'll have to rely on you guys to keep me informed of the status in IE9. I can't update my IE8 to IE9 because IE9 only works in Windows 7 and Vista and I have neither.

The old player requires Adobe Flash which presents some problems for a growing number of our members.

  • The latest version of Adobe Flash (11.4) has a bug which will prevent our old player from working.
  • Many of our members access the site from Apple devices such as iPhone or iPad, which do not support Adobe Flash. So the old player won't work on those devices.

Just be patient until I can fix the IE9 problems. Or install Firefox on your computer. It's easy, free, and works well. And there's no problem having more than one browser installed on your computer (I have seven installed on mine).

Firefox will fall back to the old player which still works just fine. Of course, if you've updated to Adobe Flash 11.4, it probably won't work.

Ubuntu 12.04 LTS :

Firefox falls back to old player and works fine.

Chromium loads new player but won't play.

HTC Desire S, Andriod v 2.3.5, with Opera v12.00 and Flash Player 11 (i think), here the new player works fine on "stop", "play" and "pause". The volume doesn't change tho the number does.

IE 8 on XP pro sp3 falls back to old player and works fine

To ease the transition to the new player while I continue to work on it, I've added the old player below it. So if the new player's not working in your favourite browser, just use the old player for now. But keep trying the new player too. It may start working properly within the next few days as I continue to make code changes.

I know the dual players look bad but this is just a temporary workaround. Once the new player is working properly on all of the major browsers, I'll remove the duplicate old version.

While IE9 does not work, I will remind that compatibility mode works fine for the time being.

Also, if you are running Windows 7 (Maybe Vista too), Windows media player streams from the link under the player if you choose by default to open the file instead of download it. It starts playing immediately instead of buffering the whole file first. I'm sure there are other programs that do it, but I prefer to use stock equipment.
