Not sure if this change was what did it, but IE9 reverts to the old player automatically now without having to change to compatibility mode.

Take your time 64, there's no pressure. The majority of the forum is understanding enough to realize that all good things come to those who wait, and we're waiting on free support..... Best of luck!

IE 9 worked (reverted) for me too.

IE9

For a short period of time, I was getting the one player before the mod for dual players was made.

Since cuthbert's screenshot suggested that IE9 was barfing on the song-length display ("of NaN:NaN"), I've temporarily removed that non-essential feature. How does IE9 work now?

If it's still failing, I could try removing other non-essential features like the progress bar and the "<" and ">" buttons. These are all related to the song-length and current position, which is where I think IE9 is failing.

I just tried it - No dice.

If you think it is just the features hampering the deal, maybe just strip it down to the bone to get initial success. It would be nice to have all that the player can offer, but I could get by with just a play button.

I don`t know if you just shut it down to work on it so if so ignore my stupid comment, but both the players
are playing Small tins of Fruit for me on my computer. They read like this on the timeline. -1:0-1

I guess it`s still that new flash update version 11.4. I`m sure they`ll fix that soon with new update.

Iphone player still works fine though..I`m happy with that!

With some help from cuthbert, I think we've found the reason that IE9 doesn't work in the song posts but works on my test page. It's because IE9 can't handle mp3 files that don't have the extension ".mp3". On my test page, I was using a copy of my "Hand Guns" cover which is stored separately on the server. So it had a URL ending with ".mp3".

https://songcrafters.org/64guitars/Songs/64Guitars/Hand%20Guns/Hand Guns - 20120823-1840.mp3

IE9 had no trouble playing this file with the new HTML5 player. But the URL for the file I attached to my post of that song looks like this:

https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=16119.0;attach=16517

Since there's no ".mp3" extension, IE9 refuses to play it. That's a bug in IE9. The filename shouldn't matter since the HTML5 audio tag already specifies the mime type as "audio/mpeg".

Unfortunately, there's no practical way for me to get around this bug, so I've made IE9 fallback to the old flash player (just as Firefox and Opera do). If the bug is fixed in IE 10, then the new HTML5 player should work.

Meanwhile, iPhone and iPad users can use the new HTML5 player, as can users of Chrome 21 and Safari 6. Users of Safari 5.1 should update to Safari 6.

So I think the new player is working in all five of the major web browsers, as long as you have the latest version. The HTML5 version works in Chrome and Safari, while Firefox, Opera, and Internet Explorer fall back to the old flash version.

I realize that the old flash version won't work if you've updated to Adobe Flash 11.4 but that's beyond my control. If you haven't yet updated your Adobe Flash, don't. If you've already updated to 11.4 and the player no longer works for you, see this page:

http://forums.adobe.com/message/4487439

... or just wait till Adobe releases a fix (I have no idea when that will happen).

Long promised, but I just need to put my notes together on a tutorial to downgrade your Flash player. Stay tuned folks (hope to get it posted by tomorrow).
