One Track Fest - Collaborations where each member contributes only one track. Ideally, many members would contribute to each song, with one member supplying the drum track, another the bass guitar, another the rhythm guitar, another the lead guitar, another the lead vocal, another a background vocal track, perhaps another with a complimentary background vocal track, and so on.

These collaborations could be done offline in the usual way. However, it might be more interesting to use the Collaborations board. Someone could start by uploading a drum track, for example. Someone else might then add some rhythm guitar, for example, and upload both the guitar track and a rough mix to the same topic. Then someone else might add a lead vocal, for example, and upload both the vocal track and a rough mix with drums, guitar, and vocal. Next, someone might add bass or lead guitar or whatever. Each time, they'd upload their individual track plus a rough mix of all the tracks uploaded so far.

Not sure what would be the best way to do the final mix. Maybe the originator of the song would do the final mix of all the tracks, or maybe someone else could volunteer. But I think there should be only one final mix of each song. We don't want each person involved in the collaboration posting their own mix of the song as a separate song post. Although, perhaps a single song post topic could contain alternate mixes of the song, but only the mix at the top of the topic would be included in the jukeboxes.

It would probably be best to start a song project with the drum track to establish the tempo, but it's not a requirement. However, if the first track is anything other than drums, then it must be accompanied by a separate click track to establish the tempo.

I think we should do our 'Famous On Songcrafters' charity single, our very own version of "Feed The World"

re onetrack fest there could be variations one person does a drum track and various individuals could add bass guitar or whatever but completely different takes.

you know? 3 different bass takes etc and from one drum track you could end up with a number of completely different songs.

If they're completely different songs based on the same drum track, for example, then they could be posted as separate song posts. But if they're just different mixes of the same song where all or most of the tracks used are the same but merely mixed differently, then they should all be in a single topic rather than posted separately. It's a question of mixing versus musical content. If the content is basically the same and only the mix is different, then all versions should go in one topic. But if the content is different, then they can be treated as separate songs and posted separately.

This would mean to put something as "available slots" for each new single track...

In fact, what if three or four SC members would like to put a guitar track to the same drums track? The first one only? And anyway we should expect a surplus of guitar and vocals requests...

Possible, but not easy to organize...
