Yes I agree, but including Quebec ...so many great artists are in Quebec
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Maybe just do a prog fest and then in the description clarify that snippets and partials etc., are all okay.

I know that I shy away from writing/covering progressive rock even though I'm fully aware that it's a mental hang up and not rooted in logic. It just SEEMS complicated even though there are tons of accessible songs to like/cover/emulate.

Rockabilly Fest and Canada Fest are good ideas. Thanks.

What about a chord progression fest - we all get say 3 sets of chord progressions and we have to write a song with them.

How about a Sensitive Female Chord Progression Challenge:
"A common ordering of the progression, "vi–IV–I–V", was dubbed the "sensitive female chord progression" by Boston Globe Columnist Marc Hirsh."

Quote"vi–IV–I–V",
excellent!
the chord progression idea for fest  and the occasion for us amateur musician to review a little bit the harmonic theory

an article on wiki to serve as a basis for your work

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chord_progression

there is no shortage of songs using harmonic suites...

NB also called I VI IV V exemple  C Am F G like for exemple "Let it Be"

I like this idea in principle. I used to use Web searches to help me think creatively, to find concepts related to the words in my song. If I was writing a song about bananas, I'd search for that and then look on the second or third page of results to see some way off-topic page that was loosely related to bananas. I know that's not exactly what is being proposed here, but I love the idea of scrambling my own in-progress songs and seeing what happens.

Splendid Idea.
