Quote from: StephenM on November 18, 2022, 06:21:40 AMI wasn't on the site while he was with us but I have listened to a number of his tracks and read alot of his comments... this could be a fun fest..

He always struck me as very sweet, and a bit naive. It made me happy to know he felt at home here, and people here were kind to him. The benefit of doing a Neil Swanson Fest would be that everything he did was instrumental. A lot of it sounded like the pre-programmed demo songs that come with a cheap keyboard. But that was kind of the fun of having him here. He seemed completely unaffected by the ego and pretenses that affect many musicians (myself included) – to be original and unique; to impress. He just seemed to love that he could do things on a keyboard and music would come out. He has a lot of songs in the Overlooked Gems jukebox.

I agree at least 300% with a SwanSong fest!

A nice idea but unfortunately it goes against our rule that you need to get permission before using another member's recordings in your own recordings. See Forum etiquette - Reposting of other members' songs which I've updated regarding the use of recordings by deceased members.

I'd like to go on record that anyone at anytime for any reason can do anything they'd like with any of my songs....
if you take one and make a million dollars or something remember to throw a little change my way!

The only thing I would say is that also we lost other members too. We lost Facemask who did get a tribute, but we also lost Fenderbender who as far as I remember didn't get a tribute so maybe if we were going the route of honouring past members maybe a fest that had the option of covering a song, or making a new song that paid some kind of tribute to any member no longer with us?

Please no!

Please Yes!

There's so much: TV, Film, Comedy Albums, even spin offs such as The Rutles. Put this to a vote!

I'd love an after-Christmas fest to ease us out of the holiday season and into normal life. This would be a covers fest where Christmas standards are inverted. For example;
- It's beginning to look a lot less like Christmas (which is what I sing when taking down the decs)
- Step Out of Christmas (the Elton John song)
- The John Lennon song becomes Happy New Year (War is Resumed)
- Santa Claus has been to Town
- Noisy Night?
Overdrive - Distortion - Hyperactivity
Yesterdays shatter, tomorrows don't matter
