QuoteBR-800 System Update Version 1.10

This is the latest operating system version for the BR-800. Please refer to the "BR-800 System Update Procedure.pdf" document included in this download for update instructions.

BR-800 Version 1.10 Features:

  • Copying insert effects
  • Track Editing functions including copying, moving, erasing, and exchanging tracks

That's quite different from what Roland Germany said was coming.

Update: coming soon!
BOSS Japan announced in April 2011 a software update for the BR-800, with advanced "Track Edit " functions, internal "drum pattern" Edit, improved access to the SONAR recording software and an updated WAVE CONVERTER. In addition, there should be a brief guide to the sensor probes.

What happened to...

  • internal "drum pattern" Edit?
  • improved access to the SONAR recording software?
  • updated WAVE CONVERTER?
  • brief guide to the sensor probes?

I guess those features have been abandoned.

Oh well. At least the editing is there and seems to be complete. And I'm glad to see that they've included User Effects bank copying. That's something that's lacking in all of the other BRs (even the BR-80). Without this feature, the only way to backup your User effects is to copy them one-at-a-time to the song bank, then backup the card. But with this new feature, you can copy all of the user effects to the song bank in a single operation. All of the BRs should have that feature.

I have still the version 1.0, can i skip the 1.06 and download the 1.10? Or is recommended that i update to 1.06 and then 1.10?
The usb issue that 1.06 fixes is also available in 1.10?

One more question, i have to format the sd card on the BR 800 right? I have to backup all the contents of sd card to pc?

Thanx in advance

Geir

I'm not 100% sure, but 99 that you can skip v.1.06. The documentation says nothing about the need to go throu 1.06 first. And the file size of "_BR_PROG.BR_" is excactly the same for both versions.

You don't have to reformat the card to do the upgrade. You only have to copy the 4 .BR_ files to the root folder of a BR_800 card. Then do the upgrade, turn the BR off, remove the card from the BR and place it in a card-reader on a computer and delete the files before using the card on the BR800 again.

You should be able to skip right past 1.06 without a problem. I'm not convinced that 1.06 fixed the USB issue, as I've still got plenty of USB problems.

Backing up your SD card is definitely a preferred method. I'd never recommend not backing it up prior to any update.

I'm about to update my 800 now. I can't believe those are the only release notes, along with a PDF of the track editing changes. To say I'm prematurely disappointed is an understatement.

My hope is that they didn't want to give us all the updates now, in hope that we should buy the BR-80 while waiting ... ::)

They did fix some USB problems. with v.1.03 I had to wait 1-2 minutes for the BR to connect to the computer, now it only takes a few seconds.

And yeah ... backup is always good !!!
