I'm going to derail a bit further. The update went off without a hitch, all systems go but...

When I connect the 800 to the PC and press enter the final time, it takes 29 seconds before I get anything to happen on the PC. Geir, yours connects within 3 seconds? hmmmm.

I'm up for suggestions

Just did mine all seems ok with the extra features , nice version 1.10 in the boot up window, but i have to say the wave convertor works quicker than before !! so a big thumbs up from me , i used the SD card that i got with the unit , which i replaced with an 8 gig card from roland , so no need to format and stuff ,

First class info lads and a big thanks for keeping us informed of the updates and any probs involved !!

Quote from: masterguerrero on July 06, 2011, 04:24:52 AMI have still the version 1.0, can i skip the 1.06 and download the 1.10? Or is recommended that i update to 1.06 and then 1.10?
The usb issue that 1.06 fixes is also available in 1.10?

I don't think the updates are patches. I think they replace the existing operating system completely. So there's no need to do each update. You can go straight to 1.10. It should contain all of the improvements from the previous versions.

QuoteOne more question, i have to format the sd card on the BR 800 right? I have to backup all the contents of sd card to pc?

A backup is always a good idea. If you've saved any custom effects patches in the user bank, copy them to the song bank before doing your backup. A backup only copies what is on the memory card. But the user bank isn't on the memory card. It's in the BR's internal flash memory. The song bank is on the memory card, so if you copy the user patches to the song bank and do a backup, you'll have your user patches saved.

Some updates for older BRs (BR-864 and BR-600, for example) would do a system reset at the end of the update. This won't erase anything from your memory card but it does erase all of your user patches. I don't know if the BR-800 update does a system reset but it's best to play it safe and backup your user patches just in case. Of course, if you've never saved anything in the user bank, then you've nothing to worry about.

that's is correct, each "update" is actually a whole system up to date being replaced.

What size of memory cards are you guys using? It just hit me, that maybe the 32Gb card I'm using is causing the ridiculous delay, because it's reading the whole thing prior to bringing up any screen prompt?

Ugh, time to dig out an old card and test the theory.

Mine takes about 7 seconds as well.  I still have the original 1GB card in there.

I upgraded to 1.10 and all is well.  I am very disappointed in the lack of features with the upgrade though???
