My Song List:

  • I'll Find My Way Home - Posted Feb 27, 2010. This is a collaboration for the Unplugged Festival.  I did all of the music and oldrottenhead did the vocals.

  • As Long As You Follow  (instrumental) - Posted July 24, 2009. I recorded this in January 2004 on my BR-864, less than two months after I got it. I'm not a bass player, but I really enjoyed learning and playing the bass part for this. I did the drum arrangement and custom patterns on the BR-864.

  • Old Man - Posted June 12, 2009. This is a collaboration for NeilFest. Greeny did the guitar, vocals, and Micro BR drums. Lucy added background vocals on the chorus. I added bass guitar and slide guitar.

  • Heart of Gold - Posted June 2, 2009. This is a collaboration with Greeny and Bluesberry for NeilFest. Greeny did the guitars, vocals and Micro BR drums, Bluesberry did the harmonica, and I did the bass, slide guitar, and 'slow attack' guitar.

  • Dream River - Posted March 8, 2009. A collaboration with RonnieJM on guitar and Wiley on vocals. I added the keyboard solo.

  • Auld Lang Syne - Posted January 1, 2009. Had hoped to get a few people to add vocals but nobody volunteered. Maybe if I'd posted it a couple of weeks earlier I might have had better luck. Maybe this year?

  • Oh, Pretty Woman - December 20, 2008. This is one that I've never actually posted. I did the guitars, bass, piano, and BR-864 drums. Oldrottenhead added the vocals.

  • Doctor Who  (instrumental - TV Theme) - Posted December 18, 2008. This is a very short recording (0:39) of one of my favourite TV themes. I recorded and mixed it entirely on my BR-864 with a Godin xtSA. All effects are from the BR, and I programmed the drums on the BR as well.

  • The World Keeps Turning (music by Ken Lowry; lyrics by James Higgins) - Posted September 18, 2008. The music was written and recorded by Ken Lowry (hooper). The words were written and sung by James Higgins (oldrottenhead). He also added the Martin Luther King, Jr. speech excerpt. I added the keyboard 'choir' in the chorus and some synth bass.

  • Blues (BR Rhythm Guide Arrangement Example) - Posted Aug 5, 2004 in the Yahoo! BR-864 Group as an example of a simple 12-bar blues drum arrangement, along with instructions for re-creating the arrangement on the BR-864. Those instructions have since been updated and can now be found on my website.

Thanks. I'm hoping it will inspire others to create their own Song List in their "Introduce Yourself" message using the new [singlemp3] tags.

That's a pretty cool feature - I'm also excited to see that Pedro is going to add the multi mp3 player in the future as well.

This is very cool! That said, I've done almost 200 finished recordings on the BR now (including the Jemima's Kite stuff), so I'd freak myself out if I listed all of them in one place, lol. I'd love to see a Jemima's Kite list though.

Yes, the new [singlemp3] tags aren't very practical for guys like you because you have so many songs. That's why I really hope that Pedro will be able to add the multi-song MP3 player to the site soon. It's great for long lists of songs because it scrolls, so the player doesn't actually take up much space in the message. The most songs I've put in the multi-song player so far is 44 for the NeilFest jukebox, but I don't think there's any limit. And you could have several separate multi-song players in your message to better organise your songs. For example, you might have one for your own songs, one for Jemima's Kite, and one for your collaborations with other members.

The multi-song player supports playlists in plain text files. So, the way that I expect it will work is that you'll create a text file for each song list. The text files will have one line for each song in the format "MP3_URL | Song_Title". For example, a partial Jemima's Kite playlist file might look like this:

https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=4409.0;attach=4384 | Sun and Sangria
https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=3906.0;attach=3890 | A Good Day
https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=3830.0;attach=3820 | Underwhelmed
https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=3810.0;attach=3790 | Camera

You'd create similar playlist files for your own songs and your collaborations. Then you'd attach the playlist files to your "Introduce Yourself" message and post it. You'd then get the URL for each of the playlist attachments and paste them between [multi-mp3] [/multi-mp3] tags like this:

Songs by Greeny:
[multi-mp3]https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=4581.0;attach=4249[/multi-mp3]

Songs by Jemima's Kite:
[multi-mp3]https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=4581.0;attach=4250[/multi-mp3]

Collaborations:
[multi-mp3]https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=4581.0;attach=4251[/multi-mp3]

Anyway, that's the way I hope it will work when Pedro gets the multi-song player installed. Until then, you might consider creating a song list of just your most recent songs using the [singlemp3] tags. That shouldn't be too hard to do.

Fantastic stuff!

Thanks, Tim. While we're waiting for Pedro to get the multi-song MP3 player widget working, I thought it would be good to have another way to create playlists and play them. So I made a new web page today for that purpose. See this message:

https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?topic=4307.msg53239#msg53239

I also took the liberty of adding three playlists to your Intro page. I hope that's okay. They only just scratch the surface of your vast library of work, but it's a start. You can add songs to them whenever you like. I know you have other priorities now, so don't feel obliged to spend time on this. You could always pass the responsibility for maintaining the Jemima's Kite playlist to Mike or Jim if you don't have time.

If anyone else here would like me to edit their Intro page and get them started with their own playlists as I've done for Tim, just send me a PM. Once the basic mechanism is in place on your Intro page, it should be pretty easy to maintain your playlists.

Thanks 64... that looks awesome (...and time consuming!). What a great extension to this already great forum. Many thanks for doing that for me - how did you know I would be totally lost on my own?! Technical instructions don't agree with my brain, lol.
