If your SONG0001.BR0 folder is stored on your computer as part of a full backup, you can convert any of its tracks to WAV files using the free BR Wave Converter program launched from within BR Explorer. You can then convert the WAV file to an MP3 using Audacity, Switch, or any similar program.

However, the fact that you're asking this question suggests that you might not have a good understanding of the multitrack recording process as it's unusual to want to create an MP3 from a backup. Instead, the procedure usually goes like this:

  • record individual tracks
  • mixdown to a stereo pair of tracks using bounce mode
  • optionally, master the stereo pair
  • export stereo pair to WAV file
  • convert WAV file to MP3 in Audacity, Switch, etc.

All of this can be done from the BR-864 except the last step.

i know iv done all that, but when i add all the wav files together, it sounds like shit, not only does it sound bad, NONE of the delay / reverb is there either, i just dont understand

i just want it to sound like it does on my recorder to my computer, and it cant seem to do it , i do all those steps, but i use reverb and delay on my vocals and the reverb and delay arent on the wav vocal tracks :/

As I said, you have to mixdown your tracks to a stereo pair of tracks using bounce mode.

Consider how multitrack recording was done in the old days of magnetic tape recording. The individual tracks would be recorded on an 8-track tape recorder, for example. Then, the eight individual output channels from that tape recorder would be fed into a mixing console. This is necessary to mix the eight channels down to two channels. Then those two channels would be fed into a separate 2-track (stereo) master recorder. This 2-track master tape would then be used to mass-produce vinyl records or cassette tapes.

You need to do all of those same things with your BR-864. But, fortunately, you don't need a separate mixing console and master recorder as the BR-864 has those capabilities built in. When you listen to your song from the BR-864's headphone jack, you're listening to the stereo (2-channel) output of its built-in mixer. However, that 2-channel mix is not yet recorded anywhere. To do that, you need to use bounce mode to record the mix on a pair of tracks (see pages 60 and 61 of the BR-864 manual). Once the mix is recorded, you can export that pair of tracks to a WAV file and transfer it to your computer (see pages 161 and 162). You should now have a single stereo WAV file on your computer which contains the stereo mix of your song. You can play this file in Audacity, Winamp, Windows Media Player, or any other program that's capable of playing WAV files. All that's left to do is convert the WAV file to MP3 format using Audacity, Switch, or a similar program.

Reverb and delay are Loop Effects, which are not recorded to individual tracks. Instead, they are recorded when you bounce your final mix to a stereo pair of tracks.

Are you sure it said "not working"?  I've never seen that message on my BR-864 and it's not in the list of error messages on pages 183 and 184 of the BR-864 manual.

Actually, the BR-864 has 64 tracks. But it can only play back 8 at a time. These 8 tracks are mixed using 4 fader controls which are shared between two track banks (1-4 and 5-8).

To understand how to use all 64 tracks, you need to learn about v-tracks. See this page:
