I was on my way to buy a Kaosillator when I found this.  I'd heard Nigel's fantastic rendition of Debussy posted up here and thought 'That's for me'.  I rang the shop and put one on hold and went to get it. One street from the music shop was a pawn shop.  If GAS is a problem, pawn shops are a side effect.  I saw the Roland PMA-5, had a play (thankfully they had the manual) and was sold.  It doesn't have the fluid pad of the Kaosillator.  The screen is broken up like a keyboard.  But it does have 8 recordable tracks (4 melody and 4 rhythm), 306 instrument sounds, 16 drum kits, 600 rhythm presets (with a limited amount of editing available), 8 types of reverb, 8 types of chorus.  I'm sure it has more.  It also has midi. 

I either use it as a sound module by connecting a keyboard and using that as a midi controller or as a place to develop drum tracks or as something to fool around with when I get home from the pub.  I don't use anywhere near its capacity.  Best toy I ever bought, apart from a Winchester repeating rifle that I got when I was six.
