AC/DC Back in Black
Foreigner 4
Ozzy - No More Tears
Jack Johnson - Brushfire Fairytales

How could I leave Led Zeppelin off my list!  AAARRRGGHH!!

I like the Foreigner 4 inclusion!  No one seems to know or care about them anymore, but they were pretty damned good!

Quote from: Greeny on July 22, 2009, 07:29:00 AMBut how can I leave out:

- 'Tin Drum' - Japan
- 'Penthouse and Pavement' - Heaven 17
- 'Ogdens Nut Gone Flake' - Small Faces

Oh! This is hard!!!!!!

Cheater! ;D

If I had an extra 3, I'd probably go with Led Zeppelin - Houses of the Holy, The Anniversary - Your Majesty, and The Kinks - Kinda Kinks (although their entire output between 1964 - 1967 is amazing.

Sheesh, I just broke my own rule! :-\

Some of you may have noticed that I can geek out from time to time.  Well, I obsessively rate all of my songs in iTunes. (It helps with my "Smart Playlists" okay?)  I've rated more than 8300 songs.

More than a year ago, I decided to dump all of my song ratings into a database and find out what my favorite albums were based on the ratings.

Based on ratings of individual songs my analysis showed these as my top five albums:

(1) “Raw Power” by Iggy and the Stooges
(2) “Brutal Youth” by Elvis Costello
(3) "Oyster" by Heather Nova
(4) "So" by Peter Gabriel
(5) "Scatterlings" by Juluka

The results surprised even me. (What!? Nothing by The Who?  How did Heather Nova get in there!?).

If I were instead to make a list from the gut, it might look more like this:

(1) “Quadrophenia" by The Who
(2) "Trust" Elvis Costello and the Attractions
(3) "Never Mind The Bollocks" by The Sex Pistols
(4) "Red" by King Crimson
(5) "Hope" by Klaatu

Heavily weighted by sentimentality.

Hooper, thanks for the strong compliment!  I'm so happy you ordered this album! ;D  You will not be disappointed with this purchase; I guarantee it 200%.  If you dig it, make sure to get their next two albums as well, Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots and At War with the Mystics.  What a trilogy!  These are the last three albums they have put out, and they have been around since the mid-80s.  One of the reasons I love them so much is because they seem to defy time.  Most bands start out great and then slowly get worse and worse.  This bands gets better and better, in my opinion.  Truly inspiring!

"Master of Puppets" - Metallica
"Innervisions" - Stevie Wonder

I can add so many...
Honorable mentions too:

Anything by Earth, Wind, & Fire
Everything from Metallica (pre 1991)
Old Chicago
Anything from Black Sabbath (Ozzy years)
Anything from Led Zeppelin

Saijinn, we have a lot more in common than I thought!  Everything I quoted above I wholeheartedly agree with! ;D

I'll likely do the same.  I've been wanting to investigate The Flaming Lips, but never knew where to start.
