Quote from: Gritter on June 14, 2010, 03:27:54 PMThe best one I know is from a girl I went to high school with;

"I'll never leave your pizza burning" by the Rolling Stones (Beast of Burden).

LOL! That's classic!!!

The one I believed for years; Stevie Nicks, from "Edge of Seventeen", I believe.

"Just like a one wing dove..."
There are only three kinds of drummers. Those who can count, and those who can't.

   All that I need
Is just a piece of paper
To say a few lines
Make up my mind
So she can read it later
When I'm gone

My friend always thought "Pure Massacre" by Bush was "New Mastercard"

And as a kid I always would sing "There's gonna be a party tonight, A party tonight I know!" by the Eagles
I'd rather be cool than be loved. - Courtney Taylor

Cool thread....

      This is weird....

Today I learnt a new word....

Mondigrie (Mond - ee - Gree)

                        To mishear lyrics

How weird is that? I get home, get here and find this thread bumped up...

Mondigrie (Mond - ee - Gree)

                        To mishear lyrics

Actually, it's Mondegreen. It comes from the final line of the first stanza of the 17th-century ballad "The Bonny Earl O'Moray"...

        Ye Highlands and ye Lowlands,
        Oh, where hae ye been?
They hae slain the Earl O' Moray,
And laid him on the green.

The last line was misheard as "And Lady Mondegreen".

I've been reading some of the 100 Funniest Misheard lyrics at KissThisGuy.com. Here are some of my favourites:

The Eagles - Desperado:

  • Desperado, why don't you come to your senses?
You've been outright offensive for so long now

(Real lyric: "You've been out riding fences for so long now")

The Eagles - Take It Easy:

  • I'm lookin' for a lover who won't blow my brother
    She's so hard to find.

(Real lyric: "I'm lookin' for a lover who won't blow my cover")

U2 - Mysterious Ways:

  • Shamu, the mysterious whale.

(Real lyric: "She moves in mysterious ways")

Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody:

  • The algebra has a devil for a sidekick eeeeeeeeee....

(Real lyric: "Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me...")

Robert Palmer - Addicted to Love:

  • Might as well face it, you're a dick with a glove.

Apparently, the person who submitted this one thought it was a song about Michael Jackson.  :D
(Real lyric: "Might as well face it, you're addicted to love.")

The Beatles - Michelle:

  • Michelle ma belle,
some say monkeys play piano well,
    play piano well.

    (Real lyric: "Michelle ma belle,
sont des mots qui vont très bien ensemble,
    très bien ensemble.")

Eddie Money - Two Tickets to Paradise

  • I've got flu, rickets, and parasites.

(Real lyric: "I've got two tickets to paradise.")

Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb:

  • My head smelled just like tuba lube.

(Real lyric: "My hands felt just like two balloons.")

Joni Mitchell - Big Yellow Taxi:

  • A gay pair of guys put up a parking lot.

(Real lyric: "They paved Paradise, and put up a parking lot.")

Partially saved was Mary and Tom

(Real lyric: "Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme.")

Maria Muldaur - Midnight at the Oasis

  • Midnight after you're wasted.

By the way, the guitar solo by Amos Garrett is just brilliant! If you haven't heard it, check it out.

The Beatles - Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds

  • Picture yourself in a boat on a river
With tangerine trees and marmalade skies
Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly
A girl with colitis goes by
