I posted this in another thread back in April, but I'll repeat it here since it's more relevant to this topic:

My favourite lyric that I personally misheard for a long while is in the second verse of Louis Armstrong's "What A Wonderful World". I always heard it as...

I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dogs say "goodnight"
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

I knew it made no sense but I couldn't imagine what else he could be singing. Then one day it finally clicked - "The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night"! Doh!

But it sure sounds like "dogs say goodnight". Check it out (the verse starts at 0:32):
