I did a totally different kind of cover on this... I used the trio by digtech to produce the bass and drums and built the song in 3 parts... verse 1, verse 2, chorus and verse 3...
Ibanez acoustic everything recorded using the Zoom R24 guitars and vocals using the onboard mics in stereo...does a great job I think..
mixed on bandlab and mastered with Landr

There's a touch of hippiness in some stuff Lynyrd Skynyrd have done, but you're upping the ante here. This is more ethereal and floating than anything they ever did. That Digitech Trio looks like an interesting gadget. Don't make me buy it. I have already too many toys. Maybe if they'd bottle that shrooms thing you're excelling at in, i might reconsider.... ;)

In all honesty. This is quite different and good rendition of the song. You made it your own and that's a good thing.

I realized the other day I paid like 350 dollars for it and only used it a few weeks and then haven't touched it... so I need to use it to justify the purchase...it is quite good... probably a lot better than I'll be able to get out of it...you know the saying...garbage in = garbage out

We used to cover this in one of the bar bands I was in. This is truly an original take on this classic tune. I like when you modulate to to bluesy swing rhthym. You could do a complete version in that style kudos.

Wonderfully warped version. Curious how you arrived at this since it's such a departure.  Cool.

I was screwing around with the digital trio... I fed it the 3 base chords of Simple Man...I was in rock setting...didn't really like the bass and drums so I switched to alt rock...the bass and drums are what you hear...then the second section was a swich that selects variations in the bass and drums...the last was yet another...crazy thing about the Trio is it seems to know when you're jamming and it pushes the pace and dynamics...it kind of knows when you are playing 3 chords over and over to vary intensity....kind of like real musicians

I got a version 1 for practice, and I have never used it (speaks volumes about my practice regimen). I will have to check it out.

Thanks.

I didn't know the song nor the digitech trio :)

for the song your production is so good that I don't even want to listen to the original

the first thing that caught my ear is the sound contrast between the acoustic guitar and this very fast bass with a big sound

the second thing is your voice and the reverb used on the solo voice part or end of sentence, it is quite subtle
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.
