Hi all, here's a rough and ready song, sort of run out of time and patience with it.     Willie

Fender Precision, Fender Strat, PRS SE Custom, Drums BR-900cd.

Sister Anna she held my hand
And guided me to that promised land
Sister Suzie she heard the call
And held me up when I was just about to fall
And they took away my hospitality
All my lines were broken now can't you see
They paid my money that I owed to the man
They said just call us and we'll do what we can

Well I came down and I gave them a call
Said I'm feeling bad can you help me at all
So they took away my cigarettes
And threw them in the bin
And took away my bottles
And said now that's a sin
And took away my hospitality
All my lines were broken now can't you see
They paid my money that I owed to the man
They said just call us we'll do what we can

Well Mother Superior she met me with a smile
Said Praise the Lord You'll feel so much better in a while
But I don't think it's helping I'm feeling kinda flat
I'm giving up the simple life
If I'm gonna feel like that

Instrumental

and they took away my hospitality
All my lines were broken can't you see
They paid my money that I owed to the man
They said just call us we'll do what we can

The songs you call rough are always cool (this time I'll not repeat Springsteen ;-) ! But now you leave me curious for the ending LoL : is he fine now after the 'treatment' LoL ?

Nice job Willie. Has a southern rock Neil Young thing happening. Sounded well mixed. I get the "Ran out of time and patience ". Sometimes I overthink the life out of a project. This sounds complete

This sounds good Willie and doesn't sound like you short changed the song at all. Good vox, melody and guitar playing. As always, you've done well here!

Test, test, one, two, three.....is this mic on?

StephenM

this has a Petty vibe...with the Heartbreakers which is very southern meets California in my estimate....
this sounds fantastic..
there's kind of hunger in it maybe like Springsteen has so I can see that comp some...and yeah...a bit of a NY vibe in the guitars...

but it's really undeniably Willie!
killer work...instant download before I hit play

you can call me anything you like.  Just don't call me late for dinner

TPB

Well now I got my Willie fix I am good for the day I always get the Petty vibe from your music but that is a good thing

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

Greeny

Springsteen, Petty, Neil Young... yep, can hear traces of all of them. Which means this is a fine and convincing slice of Americana. Smooth, melodic and infectious. Doesn't sound 'rough and ready' in the slightest. And the lead guitar is bloody awesome!

Zoltan

Nothing rough about this! Fine slice of Americana influenced songwriting and part of the tradition :) Seriously cool stuff!

Hardly rough and ready - it's a superb track !  I listened to the song before I started reading any of the other comments and the first thought that came to my head was that this is pure Americana -  then I saw everybody else has said the same thing. I can just imagine Tom Petty singing this. Love it !
