I think your version is better! Much more enjoyable. REM could learn a lesson from what you have recorded. Really.

Let me explain:

There are two R.E.M. phases. Pre Document and Post Document

I am Pre Document all the way. Totally lost my love for the band after that. Don't get me wrong, I own the later albums and enjoy some of the songs, but I feel they sold out and went too commercial. The B52's did the same thing, but that's another story...

If you want real R.E.M. pick up Murmur, Reckoning or Fables of the Reconstruction


Fables of the Reconstruction would be my first recommendation. Listing two of my favorites here, but I love the whole album:

Im a huge REM fan, and for some reason Peter Buck seems to have made a musical impact on me.  His arpeggiated jangly style that is.
