Ted, the Pete Townsend post got me thinking I hadn't heard this for a while. So I tuned it in: Ronnie Lane, the great lost talent of English music. This is from the album with Pete Townsend, Rough Mix.

Pete Wingfield 'Whole pot of jelly (little slice of toast)' The great Pete Wingfield. If you ever want to see a bloke work at a piano watch this guy play piano for Van Morrison on the Live at Montreux 1974 dvd. That was the year before this single came out, I believe.

I used to hear My Baby Gives It Away off that album on KDKB in Phoenix. It wasn't angsty enough for me at the time. Maybe I'll give it another chance now.

BTW: Several months ago I found an old cassette of KDKB that I had recorded off the air, including some DJ commentary and old commercials from 1977. Great material if I ever want to do another song like The Abbie Hoffman Incident. Calling Nigel...

I agree about 'My baby gives it away' I'm not a big Pete Townsend fan and I don't think he's that strong on this album. But his name probably put a few quid in Ronnie Lane's pocket when he needed it. Not all the Faces prospered in the same fashion.
