I haven`t really been playing it much. I still play my guitar more, but when i do play bass, i try and play with both a pick and fingers.

Just like guitar, both ways are important. It is weird going from bass to guitar. It really warms your fingers up, that`s for sure!

That's a great-looking bass, Rob! If it sounds and plays as good as it looks, I'm sure you'll be very happy with it for many years to come.

Good one Rob, thats a beauty.  Love her good.  I am a finger man on the bass.  I do a lot of fingerpicking on my guitars, both acoustic and electric, and so it feels much more natural for me to play my bass with my fingers.  Try it both ways Rob and do it the way that feels the best.

Alternate Tunings: CAUTION: your fingers have to be in different places

That looks sweet brother! I started using a pick but have recently switched to my fingers, it doesn't matter to anyone but you so try them both, just play it often and expect some new calluses!

A great choice in a bass Robbie! I've heard this model of Gretch in a few recordings and it comes through with a lot of presence. As far as pick versus fingers....I use both depending on what the song or bass pattern calls for, just like an acoustic guitar. I find I get a mellower sound with my fingers and I become more in-tune with the feel of the song. I'm not as quick with my fingers or accurate so if the pattern has a lot to it I'll use a pick....both work so use what is most comfortable for you and your style.

Nice purchase!

Wow! What a beauty! Can't wait to listen to how she sounds.

Fingers - I hardly ever use a pick. And the inside of your thumb knuckle, just at the end of the fretboard. You can get so much more expression with your fingers.

You have a nice instrument, Rob.

As for playing bass, I used hard felt picks many years ago. Finally dropped picks altogether and went to
finger picking. I was always a finger picker on guitar and the bass just followed naturally.
I've never dropped a finger on a darkened stage, while in the middle of a solo. Can't say the same for picks.

Use both methods. See which pleases you.
