WARNING: Don't attempt to drive while listening to this song....... ;D
I got one in for the fest.  I was playing around with odd time signatures on my drums and it developed from there.  That was a trip in itself trying to get the drums sorted out.  I recorded the drums first, and then built the song up from there.  I wanted to get fancier with the drums, but it was all I could do to try to hold a steady beat in the midst of the changing time signatures.  Thanks for listening.....

Psychedelic Sunrise
Godin xtSA, Epi Sheraton, bass, keys,
Drums played on Roland HD-1
Twilight turns into a psychedelic sunrise
The vision has me right between my eyes
Everything is glowing with a strange light
I breath deep and am filled with delight

If this is a dream then I don't want to wake up
I've been here before it seems, I've drank from this same cup
Everything is glowing with a strange light
I breath deep and am filled with delight

Soaring, Gliding, drifting free from my body below
Weightless, breathless, wondering how far this reverie will go
I'm captured by this spell
The state of grace before mankind fell...........
Why did we give it all away,
We got caught up and lost our way,
Brainwashed how to think and what to say,
Unplug your mind and face a new day.

I've travelled the world, I've told my brothers and sisters
Everywhere I went it seemed, the people wanted to listen
Now the time has come to make it right
On this day we'll claim our birthright

Soaring, Gliding, drifting free from my body below
Weightless, breathless, wondering how far this reverie will go
I'm captured by this spell
The state of grace before mankind fell...............
Why did we give it all away,
We got caught up and lost our way,
Brainwashed how to think and what to say,
Unplug your mind and face a new day.

Johnbee

This is fantastic!
Sounds like what a bad acid trip would look like! ;)
Very clever instrumentation and arrangement.

By and large, jazz has always been like the kind of a man you wouldn't want your daughter to associate with.

OK to cover but please let me know first.  Thanks!

Kenneth

Sounds like an enormous amount of work Dave. Some parts go in and out ,  to give that hallucigenic phase, out of this world song.
Very clever, in fact, brilliant!

Kenneth

....i'm stunned at how you could capture that drug inducement conciousness in a song. Incredibly clever.

Yeah, the guitars were awesome. Definitely. And I loved the bass. The bass and drums just work so well as the backing and let everything else ride on a very solid bed. Definitely a keeper.
