This song has a story for me.

In 1989 I'd recently begun working after graduating the year before. I started seeing a woman a little older than me who worked there. She was a big Tina Turner fan and this song was her single at the time. And the subject matter was also relevant. Let's just say that one day I went to lunch a boy and came back to my desk a man, this song is the song that takes me right back to that moment.  TMI, sorry.

Three uke tracks (one strummed, one picked and one slide), GB P bass, drums, vocals.

Tina Turner died in 2023.

TMI NOT!  it is great to hear the stories...

what a track...it is intense man... I totally hear the drive in this... you caught that essence of youth on your track... what a great and intense remembrance Nick...

this drives like a freight train with the brakes shot and the boiler so hot it is going to explode any second.  love it... and I almost didnt notice the UKe .... cool...cool track...

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

Wow! This is a totally original take on the song.

I'm not the biggest fan of the Tina Turner version (The Tony Joe White original is better imho), but this takes it into an another direction.

You can almost hear the hairs growing on one ODHs back.

With slight changes and different lyrics you could have claimed this as your own. It's still easy to hear what song it is, but you're taking it for a whole another spin.

Very different from the original and cool use of the uke. Don't know if it's just me but the verses remind me of Smoke on the Water.

Tripping and gritty.

Your story remind me of the the lyrics to "Acid Queen"

QuoteGive us a room, close the door
Leave us for a while
You won't be a boy no more
You be young, but not a child

How about a "How I Lost My Virginity Fest?"

I think I may have already shot my bolt on that one...

The song I was thinking of was Summer (the first time) by Bobby Goldsboro
" We sat on the sands, and a boy took her hand
But I saw the sun rise as a man"

Great take on this song.
Like the double, high, low vocal technique.
Works well.
That sound right after the steamy windows lyric is cool.
Nice pulsating bass.
Very cool vibe.
