mon coup de coeur! ce full concert de Ana Vidovic (ma guitariste classique préférée) est magnifique!
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Bruno's birthday song got me a curious about Frank Turner – an artist I knew nothing about, other than the one song. The fact that Bruno is a big fan is already an endorsement.

Turner's Wikipedia entry led me to this article in The Guardian, and then to this song.

What a journey.

Wow! Massive sound, and amazing talent. What a great find.
There are only three kinds of drummers. Those who can count, and those who can't.

Today I bumped this song by Ferryman. In my comment, I evangelized a bit about TWRP. That's not enough for me. I'll also leave this right here:

Listen to the whole thing and tell me you wouldn't kill to be in a band this tight.

Interesting band, Ted. Hadn't heard of them before. Just went over to Youtube and watched a few songs live. Pop, funk, electronid, with just a touch of jazz. Talented dudes.

A few months ago I was watching a drum demo video on Youtube, by a guy named Todd Sucherman. I had never heard of him before, but he was excellent. The description indicated that he was the drummer for 'Styx' for the last 27 years. Until that moment I didn't realize that they still existed. Seems they have been touring every year since 1996. I was never a big fan, but I remember liking some of their radio hits in the 70s and 80s.

To make a long story longer, They have also released a couple new albums in recent years (unusual for an old legacy band), 'The Mission' in 2017, and 'Crash of the Crown' in 2021. Both are excellent recordings, with a little taste of their early prog roots. This is Todd Sucherman recreating his drum performance for 'Red Storm' from 'The Mission'. Note that the verses are in 5/4, the choruses are in 6/8, and the first half of the instrumental is in 7/4, before changing to 6/8 to transition to the last chorus. Tommy Shaw and James Young are still wielding the axes for this band, and most of them have been there for at least 20 years. Their first album was released in 1972!

I don't know the backstory of the footage used for the YouTube video, but I'm pretty sure that's David Bowie around the 1:50 mark.
