This is interesting.

I have no qualms with sampling... there's nothing wrong with reusing grooves and rearranging sounds to make a new song.... Why should a good groove be limited to one-time use?  You are right it's an art... not my medium but maybe some day.

In any case, this is a good arrangement and good song.

It opens up my imagination to a lot possibilities to have this kind of technology available, along with someone who knows how to use it.

Thanks Zen for the support and very kind words. much appreciated
i had a reply back from ted i think it was .  n we worked it all out
no hard feelings. i took it the wrong way . he way saying in otherw
ways it was sort of comical. everyone has their own interpetation
of a song. and on songcrafters i am finding people r very knowlegable
and have superb constuctive criticism , whether good or bad. and bad
is on l y to help. as usaid and i did and te d understands. like i told
him i think this could have goine into comedy fest also .but yes if
loops can b used and samples to create song . especially since i cant
play guitar wish i could. i admire all musicians and guitarist shere
and vocalist.s to summarize if u could make a million dollars
on a song with loops what the heck who cares where it came from  !
MY EDITORIAL FOR THE DAY LO . again a million thanks NEIL

This is a very tricky subject. A lot of us on here have used sound clips, loops and artificial enhancements on our songs to some degree - but more because it meets a specific need rather than because 'everyone is doing it these days'. The only question is where to draw the line. At what point does the song become composed by the software rather than the person?

Personally, I don't even like using 'fake' drums on the MBR for my songs. However, I have to because I don't have a drummer available (and even if I did, he couldn't possibly keep up with my song output..!). I used to use a lot of loops to make dance tracks in the late 90's, but I never considered them as 'proper' songs compared to the ones I sang and played myself.

For me, if you make music that you believe in and know that you put your heart and soul into, it's valid. If I lost my hands in an accident, or my voice, or both, I would still make music in whatever way I could. However, I would still argue about how 'original' a track is that is made of off-the-shelf loops and elements. It kind of sits half-way between a cover and a backing track in some cases - especially on this largely guitar-based forum. On a dance music forum it would just be the accepted norm.

In Neil's case, I think the use of a vocal loop is a pretty daring thing to put on here, and it was bound to raise a few eyebrows. However, Neil is always honest about how the songs are made, so he's not trying to pass off sampled work as his own. Therefore, I have no problem whatsoever in what he does. A valid argument could be that there's no difference in adding a vocal sample than asking someone else on here to add vocals.

I don't think we'd ever get a clear agreement on this subject - it's just too reliant on personal choice.

HI Greeny and many thanks for the honest feed back and yes i have always
been honest wth all my music. as u mentioned. i agree with all your vieew
points and thoughtful thinking that went into your editorial will call it.
there s no boundries in music and as i feel and have said before , it is i
possible to create whole songs with loops and sample.s i also agree some
of u have used them before for enhancement but not entire song.s again
it s a matter of choice and this song was purely eperimental . so what the heck
again if it s liked jus tenjo it im  not forcing the issue, im only doing it for
fun , as i can sing and or play guitar..either way glad this actuallly raised
some eyebrows. in the past there have been songs that were original
on the radio. that were very controversial. but yet people did like those songs
and they used real instrument.s anywway im not going to expell any more
on this. but thanks for listening best regards NEIL
