Transposing a song, with its own lyrics, to a no-words piece of music is often a risky thing. Lyrics, combined to music, often are a very important part of the final product.

In this case "Emozioni" was written in 1970 by Lucio Battisti, by many points of view the most famous and popular Italian singer-songwriter of the 60s and 70s. It's lyrics are wonderful even if rather sad, but a great part of the huge (in Italy) success of this song is in the meditative, soft music behind.

Following with your eyes a heron on the river and then
find yourself flying
and lying happy on the grass to listen
to a soft sorrow
and at night watching beyond the hill to discover
where the sun goes to sleep
wondering why when sadness drops
into your heart
it doesn't make any sound like snow

And drive like a mad at night with headlights switched off
to see
if after all it's so difficult to die
and clench the fists trying to stop
something that is inside me
but not in your mind
you can't understand
you call them if you like
emotions
ou call them if you like
emotions

Going for a morning walk in the moor,
where you can't see further than a single step,
to find yourself again
Natter with a fisherman
for hours and hours
to avoid feeling something inside me dying
and cover with soil a green seedling
hoping that
one day a red rose may come out.

And punching a man
cause he's been a little unkind
knowing that what makes suffer the most it's not the offence
and close my eyes trying to stop
something that is inside me
but not in your mind

You can't understand
you call them if you like
emotions
you call them if you like
emotions

Here is the original song, as sung by Battisti himself:

This version is by myself (guitars, electric bass) and Dr. Enzo Brizio on keyboards.
Enjoy!

I'm not familiar with the original - I listened it at first. Your instumental version is very emotional and well performed by you both. I like the 'dialog' between guitar and keyboards.  I think this may on its best in a night club! Fine job all around!

tho this is not exactly rock, you doctors do indeed ROCK !!!!

I have a friend who's a doctor (he lives right up the road I live in and we have kids at the same age) who's a violinist and very musical. I don't know if it's a coincidence, but it seems like doctors in general has a musical gene !!

This is truely beautiful Alfredo !! I haven't listened to the original yet as the version you guys did are truely stunning !!!

(I've gotta apply  for medical school one day ..... wait a minute ... I did ..... once .... ... ended up an engineer ;D )

Love it !! Please tell Dr. Brizio he did a marvellous job too !!

Oh well ........

Greeny

This took me on a very nice emotional journey. The piano and guitar interplay is really beautiful... so well and sensitively performed. Superior stuff, gents. This could and should be part of a movie score. Oh the power of music!

OTD Bump,
Another beautiful piece of music I have missed.
Top class playing Alfredo,
Really well done...

... and the song is beautiful, the singer is worth knowing

... and the instrumental arrangement you made with the DR Enzo Brizio ( congrats Dr) is simply beautiful

... it would make me want to also do an instrumental from a song sing to ask in recycle II :)
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.
