Tu Scendi Dalle Stelle (Italian Christmas Carol) by Alfredo

Here I am again, with another Christmas song, that I've just finished to record on my good old BR-600...

This time back home, with the most famous Italian Christmas Carol, "Tu Scendi Dalle Stelle" (You come down from the Stars), that was written in December 1754 near Naples by Alfonso Maria de' Liguori, a bishop/musician/theologian, who was canonized in 1839 by Pope Gregory XVI.

Sincerely, I have no idea if this song is someway popular outside Italy (...and I'd like to know about that...), but for sure every Italian knows it well, both music and lyrics, since the childhood years.

Now, since in my arrangements I don't like absolutely to leave the songs too much "as they are", this time, when I began playing the melody on my Seagull guitar, I had the clear sensation that this old Italian Christmas song could be perfectly re-interpreted as a slow...Irish jig!!!

So, for you all, my Irish style version of "Tu Scendi Dalle Stelle".

Technical stuff:

apart from some bodhran loops, I've used my Seagull Performer Mini-Jumbo for the first "basic" guitar tracks (rhythm and fingerpicking melody), while for the other guitar parts I've used my Godin ACS SA, via the Roland VG-99.
