I just went to a carol concert yesterday and the structure of many carols is like this, v1 and v2 the same (kind of set the tone of the piece), v3 quieter and v4 is a big crescendo with a descant part (my son explained this to me, it's a separate melody part, generally higher in pitch and following a different, but complementary, tune). If you can get those kind of dynamics in your arrangement, you would be on to a winner with your vocals. And as Hooper said, get an MBR if you can - together with Audacity, you would have a great capability to produce high quality stuff. MBRs make an ideal Xmas present you know (if you celebrate that kind of thing).

Cheers,

WOW !!!!!!!!!!

Really strong vocal performance and wonderful harmonies !!!

For variations what Nigel said is really good advice. In addition you can try varying by sining one verse (maybe the first one) in unison (no harmonies) and/or having a verse where the harmonies are oooohs and aaaahs instead of singing the lyrics.

And you won't regret getting a MicroBR. It's the single most creative tool I've ever had. The portability of the Micro and quality of the built-in mic alone is reason enough to get one. And you get SO much more than that.

Whatever recording tool you choose, be sure to post more, cause it sure was a great listen and I'd love to hear more!
