I did this as a request for someone on the bkp forum who is thinking about buying the same guitar and pickups as i have.

Having only ever heard the song once and it instantly put me off DT many years ago and ive never listened since.

So i just went ahead and recorded this from the tab with no idea how it was meant to sound.

so here goes.

Sweet monster riff man, this sounds really flipping good to my old 70's rock ears.  What a great recording here.

Thanks for the comments :)

You may be hearing more of this track shortly as my band seems to be wanting to cover it as they like the tone i got for this clip and think we could do the track justice.

Killer tone.

I have to say that I am a total Dream Theater fan and have been for years.  There aren't many bands these days that would make me get up and trundle down to London to see - and Dream Theater are top of the list.  You really should give them another try.  Although you wouldn't think so from this riff - their music is often full of great subtlety and brilliant arrangements.

But they are not everybody's cup of tea.....

Well i will be giving them a proper listen.

The lead player in my band said i didnt like them as the only album i heard was octavarium which is apparently there worst in his opinion.

However the friend that lent me it told me it was there best so i dunno.

I'll give a few albums a listen see what happens.

Octavarium is not my favourite (although I still like it).  Try "Train of Thought" or "Live at Budokan."

The live album is just sickeningly good.
