I'm reworking my old songs with different technology and a bit more experience.
Done about this time of year originally, after the first storm of the year that breaks the back of summer.
Strat, GR20 synth, bass & vox recorded & mixed on a Korg 1200, bounced to the MBR for mastering and MP3 export.

Soft rain, champagne, chanterelles
Everyone here, wishing us well.
Well we're warm and we're fine
But I haven't heard the owls in a long time

I can feel the summer stalling,
I can hear the autumn calling
Seems to me winter's taking hold

It's the finest stretch of weather I can remember
Morning turning evergreens to gold
In the dusty wind the trees, try to
Shed their itchy leaves and.

I can feel the summer stalling,
I can hear the autumn calling
Seems to me winter's taking hold

Hard rain, fawns came and, fed well
Licking  up soft leaves that fell.
Well we're warm and we're fine
But we haven't seen the swans in a long time

I can feel the summer stalling,
I can hear the autumn calling
Seems to me winter's taking hold

I hate to think of winter coming!
But, you have a fine song there anyhow Glenn!
The guitar sounds great, as does the synth.
On these cheapo speaks, I can't even hear the bass....
And you vox is great.

This song has an old school classic feel, and the "modern" additions give it a real fresh twist.

Great guitar work, some really nice intricate little touches in there.

The mix is fantastic..studio quality.

Top song again Glenn.

First of all, thanks so much for the comments.
I am intrigued by the "Old school classic feel" one. it does ring true.
I am, I guess obviously, old, but what about the recording would show that?
Choice of instruments, song arrangement, melody or subject? My voice or inflections?
I'd have to know what it is if I am to have control over it.
Would someone direct me to a classic "modern" song or 2 so I can analyze and compare?
I don't follow current trends but I am curious.

great song all around Glenn.

your guitar work definitely has a Steely feel.

and, i think you vox has a very close resemblance to Levon Helm of The Band

"Old school classic feel"

"classic modern"

what can i say... just do what satisfies your senses.
