Thanks again everyone for the advice and comments!  It really helps.

Here's a remix with the vocals pushed and EQed up some.

BTW, here's a little mixing trick.  At least it works for the MBR and similar recorders where remixing after numerous bounces is a real pain.

Instead of remixing everything to get just one track changed, just bounce the original track back over the master.  Adjust it level to get the push needed and EQ, effect to taste.  It won't completely hide the original track but helps for problems like this one has I think.  See what you think.  :-\

To make that #3 version above all I did was take the first master (top of thread) and add the original vocal track over the top after adding EQ and such just to the vox track.  By adjusting the vox track level, I end up in effect mixing the muddy vox in the original with the now brighter EQed vox just enough to make it stand out from the original "master".

This is much easier than remixing (bouncing separate tracks on the Boss MBR) all the original tracks one by one to compile a new master.  Of course if you're mixing on computer software where you save a project so you have all separate tracks at all times, then this method doesn't really apply.

Nice song,
The 2nd version is definitely better, which means your headed in the right direction, with the
vocals.
Keep it up

Another fine piece of work. I listened to both versions, and the 2nd one is a much better vehicle for the vocal. There's some beautiful, jazzy lead lines in this. And those double-layer solos are just superb. Nice one.

I enjoyed this and think it's sounding good. Nice guitar playing there as well.

I did find something a little odd myself, which is that the lyrics and vocals are a little on the "dark" side while you have a really cheerful lead guitar line going on there, so I found the guitar for me didn't quite fit with the low vocal and "deep" lyrics. Hope you don't mind me saying that....

Cheers,

Nigel
