Bloody hell Andy this is amazing for LITLR! I love your voice! Excellent bump!

Thanks folks.

What's LITLR?

I was working on something like this yesterday. I now have several mics, but that has not made life any easier!!!

The new one has a monstrous vocal performance, and I've even mastered it... But problems with bleed across the mics and my incredibly loud voice (!) (and my complete inability to play the guitar part smoothly enough) has put it on hold for a day or so until I decide what to do with it...

I learnt a lot about microphones and my little studio yesterday though :)

I can't seem to download it, which is a tad disappointing  >:(

You sound like Andrew Strong, which trust me is a good thing. His version of Will you still love me tomorrow, is one of my all time favourite songs.

I'll look out for your new song Andy :)

I can't believe that I missed this one!

It's superb. Nicely bumped Haylie!

What a fabulous performance and a fantastic recording.

Now that's interesting.

The one I was working on yesterday is entirely "Live in the living room" (if we count my box-room studio as a room I live in!). No overdubs at all, just me and one guitar got played and recorded, at the same time. But an awful lot more post processing has gone into it than this thing ever had...

So I tend to regard this version of "Oh Darling" as a live recording, and my recording of "wotever-it-was-cover-I-was-recording-yesterday" as a studio creation. But, performance-wise, they were exactly the same thing... Weird!! :D

Haylie, you won't be able to download from here - I'm one of the people who hosts his stuff off-site to save songcrafters server space. You can download it from alonetone, though. Click on the "Play All Andrew Russe" in my signature here, and that should take you to my tracks page on alonetone. You should be allowed to do anything you like there...

Interesting you say Andrew Strong... he came to mind yesterday when I was trying to wrestle my lead vocal into the confines of "a chap sitting on sofa/back-step singing this song reflectively" (which was what I set out to achieve). I'm now thinking the missus hears something entirely different than I do when I, er, "quietly" and "reflectively" sing a few tunes accompanied by my geetar :D

Hasn't your room altered the sound somewhat though Andy?

You were saying elsewhere that the new room sounds much different to what you had previously.

I get it in the neck when I hang our quilt up in my box room.

Yes it has changed, somewhat annoyingly (for the moment, anyway).

I seem to have conquered the single-mic lead vocal capture problem. Yesterday's lead vocal mic position and technique (both with a big condensor or SM57) seem to have sorted out the unwanted reflections business. But capturing a live acoustic and vocal performance with more than one mic brings it all back with a vengeance. The mics on the guitar capture lots of vocal, but worse than that, lots of unwanted lead vocal reflections when the vocal gets big. This means I'm limited with what I can do with the guitar tracks.

I've got some tapestries, old subbuteo cloth, old curtains on three of the walls. Half the ceiling is lowered with a "tent" arrangement of one of the old sheets that got used as a dust-sheet during decorating. The problem is the 4th wall and ceiling above it. Unfortunately, I'd have to take all the guitars and guitar hangers down to do a lot about it... and where would they go? (I can see the very wall - it's only 4 or 5 feet away... but it's in the main bedroom! :D)
