Quote from: 64Guitars on August 25, 2010, 02:36:28 PMGuitar effects and recording quality sound great. Did you use a real bass on this one or the BR-800's bass simulator?
I used the real thing on this one, but I must say I'm impressed by the bass simulators. They're good enough to make me wonder if I had bought a bass at all if I had the 800 a year ago :)
QuoteHow are the mics in the BR-800 compared with the Micro BR? Did you find you could back away from them a bit more than you would with the Micro BR, or is the sensitivity about the same?
The seem much more sensitive, from what I've recorded so far. But I'll have to have some more experience before making the final judgement. There are pros and cons compared to the mbr when recording vocals. The bigger size makes it more difficult to hold it while recording, but I did manage somehow on this song. When you hold it it's less sensitive to "hand-noise" and (a big plus) you can punch in and out without audible noise on the recording due to the touch sensitive buttons. On the downside those buttens are very easy to "push" by accident.

Nice work Geir! Enjoyable listen!
Another question for you,.... when you record vocals with the BR, what vocal effect setting are you using? (ex. karaoke, ect.)

Thanx Ken !!

As this is the first proper song I've recorded on the BR800 I'm sure I'll find better ways eventually. on this I used two different settings. For the main vocals I think used the Vo Comp1 (21) from the microphone-bank, and for the harmonies I used the ST DOUBL (15) from the line-bank.

On the Micro I usually record without any FX or with just a limiter (OnlyLMT). I think I'm gonna go that way with the 800 too.

I never would have guessed this is a Macca song. Love the production – and the guitar on the outro is worth the wait.

BTW: My band in Madagascar did the song "Ho Hey" by the Lumineers. I don't ever want to sing "Ho Hey" again, or hear it sung. But for you I'll make an exception.
