Dear All,

I've been to my parent's for the last week, where I managed to finish this cover. I came across this song when a friend of mine suggested it as a DaSilvaSings cover. I immediately fell in love with the song and made a quick uke cover. However I wasn't that happy with it, and it felt down to the vault.

In the meantime, let me tell you that I still own a Yamaha DJX II which I bought when I was a mindless teenager. I always hated it because I didn't realize when I bought it that it didn't have full midi in/out, so basically this was a fun piece of gear that was wrapped under the bed. Last year I decided to take it to my parent's and leave it there as my "weekend" keyboard. While messing with it, I realized there where some fun sound banks to mess with with and decided to try an entire song only with the DJX. Plastic Jesus sounded kitsch enough, so I gave it a try...

So, for this song, I've used strictly DJX II banks and the microBR. I picked the lyrics from the internet, and selected my favourite verses. I'm not following any particular version, but I enjoyed particularly the King Earl Boogie Band's, Jello Biafra's and the Levellers'. All can be found in youtube.

Hope you like this,

So... Nevermind the Bollocks, here's DaSilvaSings

PS: I haven't had much time to hear the new songs on the site. Hopefully later in September...

I've liked this song since I was a kid, and have toyed with the thought of doing a cover ever since I can remember. I never even knew who did it... just the fact that it was a country-sounding song, and that I know all the words and how to play it! By strange coincidence, I was strumming and singing this to my girlfriend at the weekend, and she thought it was one of mine! Lol.

This is a mighty fine and original job you've done. The retro keyboard sounds give the whole thing a real twist. Kitsch, but in a very good and catchy way. I think it's inspired, not to mention very well performed. Nice one!!!!

I don't know the song but this is very catch, fun and cool. The sounds you've used are just awesome...it's Men Without Hats meets Pulp...stellar playing and singing...absolutely infectious!

Sorry for the miserable bump. 24th February, 3 songs halted because of lack of time, inspiration and vital space (my baby daughter hasn't moved to her own room yet, and she's sleeping next to my home studio....). I can't bring a new song to the festivals.

Quite poppish song, but 100% synth. Emufest festival!!!!
