creating new rhythm patterns

[Sorry, I posted this in the wrong place first time up]

A humble request.

I've been through the manual and the relevant discussions but I'm stuck for information.  Is it possible to import a drum track that I have made elsewhere (but not on actual drums, for crying out loud!) as an mp3 and then convert that into a rhythm pattern that I can use either within one song or repeatedly in a number of songs?  If this is possible, does the new rhythm pattern respond to changes in tempo?

I would have thought that that was impossible but my memory (admittedly shot through with whiskey, cigarettes and a fiendishly low IQ) tells me that someone once pointed out the procedure for this, probably 64 Guitars, but I don't remember who.  As some said recently, I think I have deja vu amnesia, I think I've forgotten this before.

TNY - Can't help with the specifics of your drum-import problem, but I can certainly announce that you're NOT alone with the quote above.  :)

Sorry. What you propose cannot be done on a Micro BR because it does not support custom patterns. Any of the BRs from the BR-600 up can do it by importing the pattern as a midi file. The best you could do on a Micro BR is import the drums as a complete audio track (WAV/MP3 import). But then you can't change them or use them in an arrangement. Still, it might be an improvement over the limitations of the Micro BR's preset patterns. Some good programs to look at are LMMS, Hydrogen, and the BR Rhythm Editor.

Thanks 64, I sort of knew that you would know.  The aim is to have identical rhythm tracks running on the MBR and the DAW so that I can rehearse things and generally play around in both environments as I'm working things out.  The problem is solved by putting 4 bars of intro in the front to get me into the beat and then cutting them out at the end. It's good to have a definitive word.  I must have read the manual four times trying to find what I thought was there.  Many thanks.

The new format has brought this up for me again (the post, not the problem). Just for the sake of putting and end to it I thought I'd post my solution. 64 was right in suggesting that importing as a complete audio track would solve the problem.  I thought I might have problem syncing the tracks but by importing/exporting the tracks as an mp3 between the MBR and the DAW the tracks stay synced and happiness is attained.  Once again the combo of the MBR and the DAW seems to be the solution to all these problems.
