Can you help a newbie?

I've never done any home recording before, but I'm on the verge of purchasing the micro br.  Guess I'm looking for a little push.  Can I realistically  expect to be laying down tracks the first day, or is there a lengthy learning curve for the techno impaired?  Will the br except flash cards larger than 1 gig?  Thanks in advance for any information or recording encouragement you can provide.

I'm a noobie too - so I guess my perspective might help.

Yes go and buy one - Ebay has quite a few - got mine for $115 brandy new shrink wrapped and all. 

Yes you can lay down tracks the 1st day - I did.

Yes there is a learning curve, more so because the Micro BR does so much.

Yes it will take a bigger than 1 Gig card, but will only format and recognize 1 Gig.  It's getting harder to find 1 Gig cards.  You have to format the card in the Micro for it to work.

I'm not exactly technically impaired, but I am definitely musically challenged. if you are not into reading the owners manual there posts on this site which will tell you exactly what to do in order to lay down tracks. Personally I struggled with a lot of terminology, however I was able to fire the BR up and with a little reading I too was laying down....(not exactly) tracks, but I was definitely recording something!

Just an FYI, I bought the BR because of this forum. Now I have been sucked in and my life hangs in the balance of the next post.

No, you're not. The Micro is the stuff of dreams, and this is the place to make those dreams come alive with a great and vivid intensity.

Buy the SD card first, just to be sure you can find one.  I bought the recorder first, and stores around here no longer carry memory cards that old/small.

The SD cards are readily available off of ebay, newegg and plenty of other sites. I just bought 2 on Ebay a couple seconds ago.
