I like it  - I get a little Soundgarden feel (From Down on the Upside - One of my favorite albums). I like the 5/4 time - it sets some very cool off beats. I'm a sucker for 6/4 time (Some Monster Magnet and Soundgarden tunes) and 7/4 time (A couple Clutch tunes from the eponymous album).

I like where this is going!!!

Thanks, Mark!   Oops , you're right, it's 5/4, not 4/5 -- I just corrected this!  By the way, I was once a huge Soundgarden fan and still dig a lot of their stuff.  Badmotorfinger was f-ing amazing.

Thanks, cuthbert!   The "crackly" recording sound is one of my favorite effects on the 1600; there are three different types of editable vinyl LP effects, and I have used them often!!

That guitar is so cool when it comes in, love the riff you have going there. It's got a really majestic feel to it and there are lovely melodies going on there. Lot of potential here, the changes all work well and keep the interest up even though there aren't any vocals. It could work as an instrumental or a song with vox, it will be interesting to see where you take this. As always, I just love the upfront bass and clattery drums. They just scream Bosko to me.

Now I have to take you to task a bit. You were claiming that you know virtually zero about music theory on another thread. But anyone who even knows 4/5 time exists, let alone be able to write and play material using it, must know something about music  I struggle with the concept of anything outside 4/4 or 3/4, I didn't even know you could have a time signature with an odd number on the bottom! I had to look all of this up and I still have no idea how you would actually count 4/5. I thought I could detect some 5/4 but 4/5, what that?? So I think you must be a secret muso at heart

Wow, thanks, Nigel!   I think I will definitely add vox; I think it will expand the song greatly.  But it's good to know it could stand up on its own as an instrumental too!   As for taking me to task, first of all, I even got the time signature WRONG when I first posted -- I said it was 4/5, but Mark (and you, sort of ) corrected me, and it's actually 5/4.  So, as you can see, I don't know shit.   In all honesty, though, being a drummer first and foremost, I can say that I know a tad bit about time signatures and other somewhat technical elements of drumming.  And although that does tie in with music theory, I guess, when I personally think of theory, I think more of actual music than rhythms.  Notes, chords, scales, reading music, etc.  That, I really don't know anything about, as far as the technical sense.  I mean, I know a lot of theory by ear, but I can't articulate it.  So far, I haven't had to articulate it, so I guess I'm OK with not knowing it!

Another gem. Would love to hear you add some vocals to this! I really like the way you play with the time signature and shift your drum patterns around. It makes this something much bigger (and dare I say EPIC?) than the standard fare we get bombarded with these days. I know, like me, that you're probably a sixties revivalist at heart, but this sounded much more like the early British eighties bands to me. A touch of Killing Joke, a touch of Cure. But it also reminds me of Bends-era Radiohead. Oh... who cares.... it's just fab, lol. And it sounds like you. That's the important thing. Excellent guitar and bass, and yet again, your drumming lifts this to places us 'robot rhythm' reliant guys can only dream of. Fabulous work. Another Bosko treat.

Thanks, Tim!   I would love to add vox, and hopefully will some day!  Wow -- KJ, Cure, and Radiohead comparisons!  I am not worthy of such praise!  You're right, this one is not as inpired by 60s as some of my stuff is, but in addition to the styles you mentioned, this was inspired by early 70s prog, at least the middle part.  Namely a band called Wishbone Ash.  Hopefully, if anyone knows this band, they can hear at least some comparison there.  Of course, it's not ripped off from any song in particular, plus, those guys were insane musicians and I am ... well, not, so maybe no one but me can hear the influence.   Thanks again for the kind words!

Really great stuff Boscko.  It rocks, it is also melodic as hell, it is hypnotic with the insistent rhythm, nervous kinda (that ending section).  It has shades of "math rock" to my ears, the rhythm and ever repeating guitar line, kinda like what Rush does with a lot of their music.  Its got a lot of potential for sure.

Alright, I've listened to this piece five or six times already and it's just terrible.....ly good!!!! i can't get enough. I feel like this was written just for me....it was wasn't it? come on tell the truph. hehe. But seriously, I suppose all great music sounds like that. John, you're brilliant!!! I love the bass line in this song, it might just be the best part, it's the glue, the foundation for this fantastic piece. The bass kind of reminds me of Built To Spill, not to take anything away from the guitar, which is incredible, or the drums for that matter! Shit, I feel like I should pay you for this one, it was such the highlight of my day. I hope a thank you is enough.
