This is not standard forum fare from what I've heard.  It's not original, it was written by Richard Saslow.  Its not even rock.  Years ago I wanted to get better at fingerpicking, so I took some lessons in blues and ragtime fingerpicking guitar solos.  I've long wanted to do a four piece band arrangement of a blues tune, so here it is....  my first project on the BR600.

Sounds like you got a good grip on that finger pickin!  Nice job!! I liked this, great way to start my morning. LOL

Greeny

This is WONDERFUL! I love that Bluesy picking. There's a lot of skill on display here - and spot-on timing. I would love to add some lyrics and a vocal arrangement to this - if you'd allow me to. Just let me know...

It's a lovely track!

Yes - I love this. Everything sounds so perfect, excellent playing, great mixing job...

I have not heard a lot of this style, and am glad you posted it. I could get hooked on this stuff.

A little Greeny on top? Heck, yeah!!

Welcome again,

Thanks alot for the kind words ;D.  Yeah, Greeny, go for it.  I'd love to hear what you'd do with this.

I had a lot of help learning to mix from contact with old pro on the Micro (and other recording equipment) called 'Hooper'.  He wasn't here when I mixed it, but I'd had a couple of great tutorials with him. ;)

Man, I have to tell you that your 4 piece band has done an excellent job with this tune!  That's what I love about music --- there are no boundaries to what can be done.  I enjoy not only playing blues arrangements and compositions, but also listening to it --- there are some many directions/expressions that one can take it to - and the addition by FM93 posting, well there are no boundaries!!!

You're spot on, facemask!  I picked up two of Stefan's Kicking Mule records with tablature back in the late 70's - How To Play Ragtime Guitar and Yazoo Basin Boogie.  Great stuff, and his fingerpicking arrangements are right on.  This style, with alternating and running bass lines played against the melody, usally picked with index and middle fingers, is sometimes called Piedmont Blues style, Piedmont here defined by the area around the Appalachian Mountains.  Kinda my neck of the woods here in NC.

Lately I been working on Stefan's Fingerpicking Blues Guitar Solos.  Some real good learnable tunes in the beginning, then it gets pretty sophisticated toward the end of the 10 song book from Mel Bay.

I also have Stefan's Ragtime Blues Guitar of Rev. Gary Davis (also from Mel Bay).  Great old blues stuff and not really that hard to play, unless you try to copy Davis's 'two fingers only style', as Stefan would have you do.  That doesn't work for me.  But its the only instructional CD's I've heard with Stefan's voice on them.

Thanks a lot for your post and the video!
