..and I found one of the only videos of the fab four with drummer Jimmie Nicole who had replaced Ringo Starr who was ill (appendicitis I think) when the fab four toured with Jimmie Nicole...he was wearing Ringo Starr's suit, a fitted suit because it was too large with safety pins in the back!

Another interesting nostalgic fact about Jimmie Nicole filling in for Ringo when he was ill, JP. The part about having to tighten up Ringo's suit with pins to fit Jimmie made me chuckle because I never thought of Ringo as being a very big guy. Thanks for posting the colored video, JP!

No disrespect intended, but it's pretty clear from watching the video above that Jimmie Nicol didn't have the finesse or chops that Ringo had on drums.

Here's Ringo playing it live:

yes, no doubt, but it was getting better. ;D

allusion to the anecdote concerning the title "it's getting better" reported in the same wikipedia article

QuoteAfter every concert, John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison constantly ask Jimmie Nicol how things are going for him. His answer is always "It's getting better". This became a recurring topic of banter between the Beatles

A few years later, Paul McCartney is walking his dog Martha with journalist and biographer Hunter Davies, when the sun comes out. This prompted Paul to say "It's getting better", before bursting into laughter at the thought of Jimmie Nicol. The result is the song Getting Better, released in 1967 on the album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
