Had an hour or so to myself this morning and this came to me.

It is what it is.
well you travelled round the whole wide world
you had to go to find yourself
from sunlit shores to midnight streets
you followed trails where wild hearts beat
you were running blind and chasing dreams
finding hope by any means
but each new place a step that showed
sometimes the journey is the road
in every face you found a sign
a piece of truth from a borrowed line
with every mile you grew some more
not who you were but who you are
you were running seeking light
through the darkest days and endless nights
with each horizon you let go
of parts you held but didn't know
it took getting lost to feel complete
to break apart just to find your feet
in every place a lesson learned
a spark of home in every turn
now you're back where you began
not the same but wiser
with every memory etched in bone
you found yourself and you found home
you found home
you found home etc

it is a nice thing to find some time alone to sing and play.

I like the drums on this.. besides everything else as well... a perpetual ORH track.. it works.

I noticed today that the first version i posted had a weird vibrato on the vocal that i hadn't noticed when i posted it. I was also unhappy with a few of the lyrics, so i re sang the song with new lyrics. Still can't figure out what happened to vocals on first take, loose wire or ghost in the machine who knows. I'm not particulary happy with the guitar solo, but if anyone fancies a go at replacing it let me know and I'll send a mix without the lead guitar part.

Loving the melody and the whispered vocal in my ear bought the lyrics home
