So fragile the musician's dream
Innovative yet diaphanous and frail
Shattered by disappointments
Dream to succeed; dread to fail
Ripped off, ridiculed and rejected
Nullified, negated and neglected
Then to find that nothing is as it seems
So fragile the musician's dream

So tortured the writer's dream
Every heroic protagonist so gallant
So many concepts to portray
So many inspirations to balance
Plagiarized, packaged or unpublished
Written off, wrapped up and rubbished
Walking blindfold along that narrow beam
So tortured the writer's dream

So mystical the dreams of the cleric
Dragged out of ancient scripture
Maybe every religion needs an enemy
But I guess we all get the picture

Oh, baby come lay by my side
Let's see all our dreams collide
You and I we make a good team
The writer, the musician and a dream

Interesting composition and vibe. Great building and instrumentation. A fine lead then that outro threw me! Too cool! 8)

Those things we take for granted - when we're young and immature - will surely return to haunt us when we're old and insecure

Love that move from pizzicato to spiccato in the opening section and then the introduction of gnarly guitar.  Great song with movements everywhere.  The guitar solo is the icing - very fine.

oh - the hammond has just popped its head over the parapet!

Masterful.

another fantastic track... I really am into that chugging low end and that rhythm dirty guitar... and then the keys chiming forth against the ride bell... wowee...

this is dancing music... this is lift the arms to the sky and shout music...
takes me into alot of various spaces..
it is nice the areas that let you breathe before launching us into space with the power sling..

cool lyrics... I think I found myself in here somewhere  8)  8)  8)

I had to hear something proper to wash out the horrors from a song i just heard (my own) and it's Ray to the rescue.

The drums caught my ear.
Is this the sound of Ray behind the drum kit?

The songwriting is great, the vocals and especially backing vocs are evocative. The arrangement keeps things moving. There's lot to love.

Great theme... words are fab and true... applies to a lot of us :)

But hey, breaking out that fabulous rock guitar solo was totally in keeping with the tune and so damn good

Great post.

I thought I had commented on this.
Had it on in my car the other night.
Starts off gentle then explodes into a radio friendly rock vibe.
Love the piano sound as well.
The bass work when it drops out in the middle is excellent.
My only criticism would be I would have preference the drums to go completely then as I felt I was concentrating on that hi hat.
It's a great track Ray.
