80's song without vocals

Here's a rough sketch song idea that i've been polishing a bit. I think arrangement wise the verses are a bit too short. There's a bridge and after that there's a place for guitar solo. I had some solo ideas, but decided not to record them until the vocs are in place.

Unfortunately i'm 100% hating everything i've got going for this and if someone gets inspired this is ups for grabs.

I was thinking of layers and layers of backing vocals, but i can't find anything that "sells" the song. It's a bit of a bore

Tempo is 120bpm and it's in the key of G.
