So.  Barbershop/musichall/fairground/brass band - that sort of covers it.

Trevor sent me the guitar and vocal demo of this song about a week ago and it was just screaming at me - well, all of the genres detailed above. Or maybe it was the voices in my head screaming at me? Who can tell? Who cares?

Where was I?  Oh yes.  The song.  Trevor's acoustic guitar and the vocal from the demo were brilliant so made the final cut.  I sang backing vocals as did my wife, which a fit of madness led me to making it into a barbershop intro.  I only had to sing a line of all one low note and again an octave higher.  How hard can that be?  Well I got there eventually.  I have a voice that even a mother couldn't love but I managed - so make the most of it.

The Mrs Mills piano at the start is - exactly that.  Mrs Mills' upright piano in Abbey Road studios.  It was also used by a fairly popular beat combo from Liverpool apparently. I bought the sample library for about £30 some time ago with no idea how I would use it.

Brass band wasn't too difficult for me as I played in a brass band in school - first cornet and soprano cornet.  Like a fool I gave it up to play guitar instead. Spitfire studio orchestra Woods and brass libraries were used.

The carousel organ was a freebie library that I got somewhere.

WOW - this marvellous track sounds tailor made for a musical stage show. Great incisive lyrics along with Trevor's cool vocal. The arrangement is astonishing with instrumentation utilised to the max, Paul and a great example of creativity on steroids.

Lovely track guys! I love the brass/string arrangements and the guitars are lovely. Great lyrics and chords here too, it has a unique "carnival prog" feel!

really cool work.... it's special to delve into some different styles and sounds and make it work this well.  Also cool that you and the wife sang on it... extra points there.

Well this is truly brilliant. So off the wall. I really like Keith's "carnival prog" description. The intro is great... that barbershop part and then that brilliant bit of old bar room piano. So many cool quirky bits put together brilliantly. Trev's lyrics and vocal put into words basically how I feel about the desperate situation we are seemingly intent upon. The music hits the nail on the head by adding the madness in spades. Well done to all involved (great that you and your wife added a vocal Paul).

I think Ray hit the nail on the head..this sounds like it should be in a Hit musical. What a fantastic, quirky song. Love the barber shop style vocals. I really love the music, Paul your additions are brilliant. Those music libraries you used, yes I habe some of them, they sound great.
