"Lonely People" is a song written by the husband-and-wife team of Dan Peek and Catherine Peek and recorded by America in 1974.

"Lonely People" was written within a few weeks of Dan Peek's 1973 marriage to Catherine Maberry: Peek- "I always felt like a melancholy, lonely person. And now [upon getting married] I felt like I'd won."

The lyrics of "Lonely People" advise "all the lonely people": "Don't give up until you drink from the silver cup", a metaphor which Dan Peek thus explains: "It's possible to drink from another's well of experience...and be refreshed.

Happy Valentine's Day to all lovers.
As Dan felt, marriage is a seal of everlasting love, which is strengthened by the blessings and assistance of family and friends.

Feedback is much appreciated. Thank you.

a new beautiful rendition congratulations René
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Very Nice Renee  Spent many days alone while in the military just waiting to go home so I can relate to the song

well, I love America, I love this song... and I really love your version of it Rene!
I can't really do music like this but I do love it and listen to it way more than anyone would realize...

I really enjoyed the back story as well Rene...

love is indeed a silver cup... and romantic love is especially powerful... but I desire to love everyone!  The word gets thrown around... cool job sir!

This is a lovely song I haven't heard before. You sound like you are really comfortable playing and singing this one. Yeah it's a really nice sentiment. I like to think though that there are many people that do not find true romantic love, BUT importantly I believe real love is even bigger than this, and can shine through and permeate every single one of us in all of lifes relationships. Okay I've had a drink! :)

Anyhow, a lovely performance Rene.

Quite familiar with the song as I'm a big America fan.  And your solo version here is very nice, as were your other recent America covers!  Coincidentally I've got tickets to an upcoming America concert.  This will not be the first time that several of your covers "anticipated" which bands I will be going to see live!

A good cover of Lonely People, Rene. You have me singing along in harmony, well in my head anyway, as it's early here and I don't want to wake my wife, lol. I like the band, America. I've seen them in concert 3 times over the years and they sound great each time. Well done on this song!
