This is a song from a French pop rock band "Les Innocents" from 1992
The song is "l'autre finistère"

here the lyrics and translation

Comprendrais-tu ma belle
Qu´un jour, fatigué
J´aille me briser la voix
Une dernière fois
A cent vingt décibels
Contre un grand châtaigner
D´amour pour toi
Trouverais-tu cruel
Que le doigt sur la bouche
Je t´emmène, hors des villes
En un fort, une presqu´île
Oublier nos duels
Nos escarmouches
Nos peurs imbéciles
On irait y attendre
La fin des combats
Jeter aux vers, aux vautours
Tous nos plus beaux discours
Ces mots qu´on rêvait d´entendre
Et qui n´existent pas
Y devenir sourd
Il est un estuaire
Un long fleuve de soupirs
Où l´eau mêle nos mystères
Et nos belles différences
J´y apprendrai à me taire
Et tes larmes retenir
Dans cet autre Finistère
Aux longues plages de silence
Bien sûr on se figure
Que le monde est mal fait
Que les jours nous abîment
Comme de la toile de Nîmes
Qu´entre nous, il y a des murs
Qui jamais ne fissurent
Que même l´air nous opprime
Et puis on s´imagine
Des choses et des choses
Que nos liens c´est l´argile
Des promesses faciles
Sans voir que sous la patine
Du temps, il y a des roses
Des jardins fertiles
Il est un estuaire
Un long fleuve de soupirs
Où l´eau mêle nos mystères
Et nos belles différences
J´y apprendrai à me taire
Et tes larmes retenir
Dans cet autre Finistère
Aux longues plages de silence
Car là-haut dans le ciel
Si un jour je m´en vais
Ce que je voudrais de nous
Emporter avant tout
C´est le sucre, et le miel
Et le peu que l´on sait
N´être qu´à nous
Il est un estuaire
Un long fleuve de soupirs
Où l´eau mêle nos mystères
Et nos belles différences
J´y apprendrai à me taire
Et tes larmes retenir
Dans cet autre Finistère
Aux longues plages de silence
Il est un estuaire
Un long fleuve de soupirs
Où l´eau mêle nos mystères
Et nos belles différences
J´y apprendrai à me taire
Et tes larmes retenir
Dans cet autre Finistère
Aux longues plages de silence

translation

Would you understand my beautiful
That one day, tired
I'll break my voice
One last time
At one hundred and twenty decibels
Against a big chestnut tree
Of love for you
Would you find it cruel
That with a finger on your mouth
I take you, out of the cities
In a fort, a peninsula
To forget our duels
Our skirmishes
Our foolish fears
We would go there to wait
The end of the fights
To throw to the worms, to the vultures
All our most beautiful speeches
These words that we dreamed of hearing
And which do not exist
To become deaf
It is an estuary
A long river of sighs
Where the water mixes our mysteries
And our beautiful differences
I'll learn to be silent
And your tears to hold
In this other Finistère
With long beaches of silence
Of course we think
That the world is a bad place
That the days damage us
Like the canvas of Nîmes
That between us, there are walls
That never crack
That even the air oppresses us
And then we imagine
Things and things
That our bonds are clay
Of easy promises
Without seeing that under the patina
Of time, there are roses
Fertile gardens
It is an estuary
A long river of sighs
Where the water mixes our mysteries
And our beautiful differences
I'll learn to keep my mouth shut
And your tears to hold
In this other Finistère
With long beaches of silence
For up there in the sky
If one day I go away
What I would like to do with us
To take with me above all
Is the sugar and the honey
And the little we know
To be only ours
It is an estuary
A long river of sighs
Where the water mixes our mysteries
And our beautiful differences
I'll learn to keep my mouth shut
And your tears to hold
In this other Finistère
With long beaches of silence
It is an estuary
A long river of sighs
Where the water mixes our mysteries
And our beautiful differences
I'll learn to be silent
And your tears to hold
In this other Finistère
With long beaches of silence

Tres bien! I like the sound of the 12 string at the start and very cool accordion work. Excellent vocal too. I'm not familiar with too much French music but this is a nice blend of traditional and more "contemporary" sounds.

I do love the sound of an accordion. This is beautifully done, JP. Such a summery sound. Or maybe it's because I only know Finistère in the Summer. With all the Breton Fest-Noz. In fact I'll be back there in July. Tres Bon!
