Some sunny psychedelic pop. Epiphone Casino with various pedals (The usual Nobels ODR-1 and Orange tiny terror crunch, plus a TC Electronic bucket brigade analogue delay very prominent on this song), Fender Jazz bass, GarageBand drums and keys. All recorded on the MBR.

tell the golden emissary
to whisper in my ears so very
high and in slow motion till I drown

I feel you in my veins
and down the country lanes
in the evensong before it's dark

and I just want the sleepy touch
of your morphine sun
of your morphine sun

giving blood in a summer room
this hospital feels like a zoo
the monkeys and the potted plants so high

I feel you in my veins
and down the country lanes
in the evensong before it's dark

and I just want the sleepy touch

of your morphine sun
of your morphine sun

All your morphine sun
All your morphine sun

Working while enjoying a headache and listening to this. I think that's a perfect blend of pain and pleasure.

The poppiness is a Greeny trademark. So are the lyrics that are a bit off-kilter.

Wonderfully relaxing yet grandiose in style.

your music is so happy Tim... I love that glock n spiel or wood chime...it is awesome add...

and no one like me might ever know what the lyrics really say because I get lost in the whole thing as a whole thng...the voice and the doorbell and the guitars and the drums and the bass just declare happiness...

and then I read the lyrics and I laugh... not that the are funny per se... just because they are so valid...

and all too real... thank God for pain killers.

and that piano solo thing with the guitar... it's what the masters can do

Holy shit! This is the goods Tim! Sounds like it would be right at home on Wilco's Summerteeth album, as soon as that stabby organ came in I thought: "Jay Bennett, is that you?"
I love the juxtaposition of the upbeat music and the edgy, "stream of consciousness" lyrics. This is pure class songwriting at its best!

Right from that first guitar phrase we know we are in for something special. Great lyrics as always and lovely warm production - everything mixed to perfection with every track in its own space. Love that break with the piano - great use of light and shade

Brilliant as usual.  We could do with some sun - or warmth at least.Love the harmonies and the vibraphone(?) lines.
