Jardin d'amour ..This is a medieval song, the lyrics are from an anonymous person and the music in DADGAD tuning are from Pierre Bensusan
Pierre Bensusan is an extraordinary musician (piano, mandolin, guitar) ...and an extraordinary singer
Finding too narrow the straitjacket of the Folk music which are his roots (he played with Bill Monroe) he became over the decades a World Music musician and a master of the DADGAD tuning guitar (it's the only tuning he uses for more than 40 years and some of his pieces have been covered by the great (the immense) guitarist Ana Vidovic

I advise you to listen to the recorded version of this song by Pierre (song which was in his first record, in the 70's) because I am only a pale (and admiring) imitator

In addition to being an artist of international dimension, he is a very simple and accessible guy (he always answers my emails and was kind enough to preface my course booklet in Haiti)

He is currently on tour in the USA

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

What no comments!?

JP this is superior stuff, while I take your word that Pierre is a fabulous musician, your playing on this is first class also. Seems to me that you would be capable of sitting in and jamming along with him. I like the production here nice and warm. Lovely melody too.

I remember being gobsmacked after researching the Michael Hedges tune "Bensusan." You do a wonderful job here, even getting his playful use of time. Just a wonderful post.

Jean Pierre

thank you Mike and Blooby

??I didn't know Michael Edges... I listened to tribut to Bensusan on You tube

and indeed it sounds very Bensusan Like...It is indeed an Open tuning but according to some research it would not be the DADGAD which is now the exclusive tuning of Pierre

It seems that the tuning is CGDGAC (?) https://www.songsterr.com/a/wsa/michael-hedges-bensusan-tab-s391171

In any case excellent guitarist who has a classical training (wiki)

Ah yes the lyrics and their translation of Jardin d'amour... there is a double meaning in this song;

a young girl and her young lover are walking in a shady garden and the girl offers a bouquet to her lover who wonders if this bouquet is not a way to break their romance

for indeed all the birds in the sky are not all for one hunter

Garden of love, how great you are!
Or I'll take my sweetheart for a walk
In a garden covered with flowers
Or I'll walk my heart
My love made me a bouquet
I don't know what it means
If it is of love or regret
Or to give me my leave

All the birds in the sky
Are not of the same mother
Are not all for one hunter
And my sweetheart for one servant
She made me a bouquet
And I don't know what it means
If it is of love or regret
Or to give me my leave
My love made me a bouquet
I don't know what it means
If it is of love or regret
Or to give me my leave

-------------------------------
Jardin d'amour, que tu es grand!
Ou je vais promener ma mie
Dans un jardin couvert de fleurs
Ou je vais promener mon cœur
Ma mie me fit un bouquet

Ma mie me fit un bouquet
Je ne sais ce qu'il signifie
Si c'est d'amour ou de regret
Ou bien pour me donner mon congé

Your version is great! I listened to both yours and the original. Funnily i was thinking of that DADGAD tuning while listening to John Densmore interview last night and then again while listening to Stephens Christmas song (It's not in DADGAD, but the playing / choice of notes doesn't sound like the run of the mill pentatonic either). And now i heard this.

Well done JP! :)

Ian Anderson? ..I must say I don't know him

and then when I looked at Wiki I read that he was the singer of Jethro Tull... so I must have known him a bit in the 70s
Ian Anderson is a singer with a nasal voice but remarkably accurate (according to wiki) and multi-instrumentalist he plays the transverse flute (it's a bit of a trademark) but also keyboards, acoustic, electric and bass guitar, bouzouki, balalaika, harmonica, saxophone and various whistles.
His biography on wiki is impressive and he is therefore a musician who is quite unknown and to be (re)discovered

according to a search in the SC archives, it seems that the biggest fan of Ian Anderson and jethro tull is..Stephen M ;)
