So - two in a week!

I'm quite excited about this one.  If you think The Big Ticket was a big production....best sit down.

Trevor sent me the demo for this a while ago.  I added a pretty bit in the beginning and a pompous section in the middle - as you do.  I stumbled across a passing gospel choir, and their cathedral friends and roped them in.  This song also has a first.  I managed to get my wife to put down her crotchet hook and add some backing vocals at the end.  I then did (overdid) a bit of a production on the whole thing.

This is "Who Took all the Silver?"

Paul

Someones took all the gold
Somebody's got all of the silver
Somebody's got all the gold
Somebody's holding back their love and not letting go

Somebody's got all of the silver
Somebody's got all the gold
Somebody's holding back on their love and not letting nor letting  go

The survivors cling to the boat side they are holding tight
The survivors cling to the boat side
Their not letting go
Their not letting go
Their not letting go

Somebody's got all of the silver
Somebody's got all the gold
Somebody's holding back their love and not letting go

Somebody's got all of the silver
Somebody's got all the gold
Somebody's got all of the silver
Somebody's got all the gold
Freedom
Freedom has gone
Freedom has gone
Freedom
Freedom has gone
Freedom has gone

Somebody took all the silver
Somebody took all the gold
Somebody's got all the silver
Somebody's got all the gold
Freedom
Freedom has gone
The freedom
The freedom we knew has gone

Another banging track! Struck me as special right from the very beginning with that beautiful violin in the intro. Lovely piano and stunning choir vocals. You guys took "prog punk" to the next level with this one!

Holy Smokes man.  I could swear I am listening to a brand new Kansas track with some new twists... I mean Trevor could almost be a Steve Walsh... in my head... it's my story and I am sticking to it.

I heard this the other day when I was on the elliptical but it never hit me.... now I am listening on my JBL studio monitors and wow... plus I am totally focused on the song... I just keep reaching for the volume slider on the board and pushing toward the top....toward the top.... toward the top!!!!

wicked amazing work Paul..... and you defo got the exact correct vocalist on this...Trev is amazing and even more so working with music this good..

also some very cool backers singing...thanks to your wife...

Absolutely great track, guys. Excellent production/instrumentation and not over the top or anything like that. Trev's vocal is perfect for this; it's kinda like a track from a rock opera. Stellar stuff, guys well done.

The violin at the intro sounds great Paul! The songwriting is over the top good Paul and Trevor. I like the B3 and the guitar work. Top notch lyrics and vocals Trevor. Excellent and proggy, just as I like it. Paul tell your wife she did good!

I love the energy in this production especially in your vocal delivery.  Unique and powerful intro.

Listening again and reading the comments again.  So Trev had a music/vocal sketch that he sent you Paul?  I could hear a bit of Trev's music style here as well.
that choir idea is amazing.  Styx early on, very early, before their big years before Tommy Shaw had this kind of thing and I still love it.
what is cool also about this track it is a mixing of old school prog with newer music beats heard these days.
that guitar tone just absolutely is amazing and so (Kansas)...
Livgren was a genius and Rich Williams can play.  When you can get comped to bands like that YOU'RE DAMN GOOD!  That includes your amazing studio work.

Hi Stephen. Yes this started off with Trevor sending me a rough demo of the song - the same as "Other Days" and some others. I added some of the proggy parts like the intro (deliberately Kansas-esque) and the piano, cathedral organ and Hammond sections. Trevor added his vocal over the new backing and I mixed and mastered it.

Working with Trevor seems to suit us both!

Thanks all for the great comments.... Stephen I send Paul a pigs ear of a demo then he pours his magic sauce on it and turns it into a silk purse I just love what he comes up with.
