China Girl (Iggy Pop cover for 1977 fest)

A quick bumper crop type of thing. Done in one sitting. I'm hoping to find time to do some improvements (like redo the scratch vocals) for this one.

The guitar sounds were done on the fly with the help of JHS Crayon + Walrus Fathom reverb (+ playing with the Mustang volume / tone). A simple one guitar, one bass, drums & vocal -type of 4  track production.

That guitar sounds great and the style is perfect for you.  Must admit I'd overlooked the Idiot album, but it's a big thing for me (although I didn't come across it till a few years later).

Anyway thanks for putting this up, I loved it.

That guitar sound with all that reverb suits the chords and gives it a 1960's Del Shannon kind of feel. I hear lots of similarities to "Runaway."

Your scratch vocals are good, but yes, replace them – and give us some goddamn falsetto in the chorus, like Del.

I did a new mix + added loads of synth stuff. I also re-recorded the vocals, but they're just about as rough as in the first version.

Ted, that Del Shannon idea is good, but i'm currently suffering from a slight flu so i'm playing it safe
