Some of us have more class than others. This could be the long and short of it :) The vocals are perfect. The piano sounds lovely. The reverb / the simplistic yet stylish production is spot on. The melodies are strong. Seriously great stuff from the beginning to the end. This stuff is on its own level.

Mr. Greeny set the bar a little higher again LOL ! Here's a complete western film, in just 100 wonderful, amazing, perfect words. For the piano sound, since you liked it, I found this wonderful Stainway samples recorded in an abbey (hence the cool reverb) as a free soundfont .sf2, that I play in my DAW with the Sforzando VST. There's a cool contrast between the piano reverb, that definitely set the story in the past, with a sort of 'legend' aura, and the more dry reverb on Tim's vocals, that set the narrator in the present, like one who has lived the story and tell to us right now. I'm sure there's some cameramen equivalent trick for this, I enjoyed a lot !

I'm in awe

This is so beautiful

The piano is wonderfully played

The melody .... stunning

The fitting lyrics so excellently performed.

I think this is one of your finest performances Tim, and that says a lot coming from a big fan of yours!

Have to agree with everything Geir has said. This is, honestly difficult to critique... it's simply jaw droppingly beautiful. What a vocal. What a melody. What a song. Yep... beautiful.

I'm with all the rest by saying WOW! Max's piano chords and melody are just perfect and Tim's vocal fits it perfectly. Besides having the pitch nailed down I'm impressed by the vocal phrasing and timing....sometimes trailing the piano melody and sometimes leading the piano melody....man this is really a top post! I was so enamored by the finesse of the song that I didn't hear the lyric and had to go back and read them.....a classy western ballad and story!

Stunning in its simplicity - piano and vocal. No need to add any other instruments as it's perfect as it is !

Love the way this captured the feel of an old Hollywood western movie.  This could be playing at the end as the hero walks away, the camera slowly zooms back and a tumbleweed rolls by.  But this song sounds like it already knows what it's doing here, even without that reference.  Always fun to follow a new Greeny melody line and let yourself be surprised by the imaginative changes and this piano playing accomplishes a lot with a bare minimum of notes... not an easy thing to do.  Well thought out and it all fits together very nicely.

These days I merely dabble at being old and wise.
But I swear, I used to absolutely excel at being young and stupid.
