Garageband drums, percussion and organs, plus Ibanez bass and lots of guitar (MiM Strat). Hard to categorise  ::)

my favourite shirt is full
of creases from the wash
and i'm waiting for the green man
to tell me when to cross
into the heart of the urban jungle of lights

london's waiting like a vampire to feed
london's waiting for this sugared vein to bleed
we've gone cashless now
no more filthy lucre

drinking to your health
by leaving it a bombed-out wreck
blitzkrieg up the junction
and it isn't over yet

lockdown frenzy for the woozy swoon of rum
an arm around your shoulder comes in 4 pint pitcher jugs
this wasn't rock and roll
this was genocide

don't come to read the meter
there's nothing for you here
I'm panning in a river
for traces of the year
that walked out and deserted:
french foreign legion stuff

drinking to your health
by leaving it a bombed-out wreck
blitzkrieg up the junction
and it isn't over yet

the neon of kebab shops
after hours sanctuary
come and worship at the altar -
a chicken doner madonna for me

drinking to your health
by leaving it a bombed-out wreck
blitzkrieg up the junction
and it isn't over yet

This is great, i was getting an Ian Dury vibe from this and love the references to nadsat and bowie in there. Something the great man himself was fond of

A real new wave groove this and i loved it !!!!

"New wave groove" says it all - great work! Do I hear a farfisa and hammond? Cool! 8)

Those things we take for granted - when we're young and immature - will surely return to haunt us when we're old and insecure

Love it. Love the bass especially! But it's all good.

The first comparison that came to mind was the "No Mercy" by the Stranglers.

I couldn't help but think of Squeeze, what with the "up the junction" reference and the sarf London drawl...... ;) It's got a lot of similar elements but as always it's your own unique thing. Love those keyboard sounds and the groove, it really works. And the bass is stellar, just loved it, as always it adds a wonderful counterpoint to the vocals. Which are great as always and the lyrics are acerbic and so well constructed. I enjoyed the Bowie reference as well.

A quite wonderful piece of work. As always, a joy to listen to.

Pithy observations wrapped in a tasty musical package - sounds like a Greeny song to me!

Loved it.

I read the lyrics before listening (as I often do with your songs) can not help but be very impressed with the acidic social commentary. Always great writing from you, Tim. Musically, I love the bass playing and the new wave vibe that compliments that London accent. I can't compare this to anything i've heard before because it's all so original and impossible to 'pigeon-hole' Excellent track.

For some reason this doesn't sound like your typical vocal work, at least to me.  I had to check twice to make sure it was "Greeny".
Anyway, it another great Greeny tune.  The production quality is up to your typical standards.  The organ work sounds a bit "Doorsy" (ie Ray Manzerek) but that's a good thing.  Gives it a 60s shine.

I think I agree with pretty much everyones comments. The Bass work is great, very inventive and I also dig that swirly keyboard. And it is great to hear the London accent in the semi spoken sections. A really cool song, most enjoyable.
