This time in history fascinating. Richard had become the Warrior King of England in 1189, even though he was away at the time, busy fighting in the Holy wars. (Nothing much changes in a 1000 years eh?:) Probably the first to wear the 3 gold lions on a crimson cloth...the emblem of olde England!
There had been 1 lion on Henry the 1st's coat of arms (William the Conqueror's son)
He took another lion from his wife's coat of arms...and finally Henry the 2nd (Richards father) took another lion off Eleanor of Aquitaine, when they married, who also had a lion on her colours. And thats how you get 3 lions on ya shirt! Representing England, Normandy and Aquitaine. I always wondered where the 3 lions in the shirt came from :)
This was recorded a few years ago. Thanks for listening. Darren & Keith.

LIONHEART

The son of Eleanor of Aquitaine ...he...
Ran the English blood in his veins
His Fathers took a lion each
One at a time for the crimson tide
I HAVE THE LIONS HEART...MY THREE GOLD LIONS!
I HAVE THE LIONS HEART...MY THREE GOLD LIONS!

Became the English warrior king
With no foot on English soil
But in the wings, his brother John
Spreading the rumours that only stink...he won't
Follow the lion...he won't...follow the lion
Follow the lion...he won't...follow the lion
(Follow the lion...) Now!

I am... the lion! Now!
(Inst)

He took his body of men
Overseas in the Holy war
Became Richard the Lionheart
Never to set foot in Jerusalem
They got the lion's heart...and his three gold lions
They got the lion's heart...and his three gold lions
I have the lion's heart...and his three gold lions
I have the lion's heart...and his three gold lions

Follow the lion...! (repeats)
I have 2 profiles on this site, (NOW COMBINED INTO ONE PROFILE PAGE)
One is a musical partnership with Keith Allen, ( we record songs as "The Devil's Toupee").
The 2nd one is for my other musical projects and collaborations. (DarrenG)
Thanks for listening.

I also wondered what the significance was with those three lions; interesting history lesson. This is a great track, Darren and the production is sensational. Keith's vocals are stellar and the song illustrates the versatility you two have in creating such fantastic stuff. I can hear a bit of Curt Cobain in that vocal too by the way, particularly towards the end.

Oh yes! Dramatic and stylish. Like the lovechild of Nirvana grunge and Whitesnake / Judas Priest 80's hard British rock. I love those chorus falsetto parts - so good! And the guitars are massive. A proper headbanger. Love it!

Ferryman_1957

I'm getting a bit of a NWOBHM vibe, really powerful guitars and some sterling lead work, this one oozes rock from every pore! The vocals are really impressive and the production is superb, really punchy and powerful. Great fun.

Interesting about the three lions, I didn't know that. Although really we should be back to one by now....... ;D

Lets' Rawk!!!!!!!! This is a powerfully performed and produced song. The punchy drums and bass carry it well. Great vox and guitar work....well done Darren and Keith!

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

since you are talking about the holy war...I'll just say holy shit man...this is friggin amazing and I mean to the moon and back... I don't think I can adequately describe how fantastic I find this....I feel like I need to ask for your autograph (even though I never was one to do that).... there is so much great stuff in here....those yelling vocals you have mixed down in...and that crazy cool lead around 2:13...
I will have to listen to this quite a few more times and then make another comment...this is exciting....exciting....exciting....and it makes me wonder what else you have tucked away in your bin there..
