Another song to pop out of a conversation that Tim and I were having - both declaring fandom of a great artist in my opinion.

I seem to spend a long time noodling these days and prompted by a too-good-to-be-true offer of some Akai soft synths for Four British Pounds (reduced from hundreds of British Pounds) I found myself with some new sounds.

This popped out. I sent it to Tim to see if it triggered any sympathetic response and I got these fantastic lyrics and two vocal tracks back from him.

A little more twiddling and we have Fear of Flying.

My thanks to Tim for turning a few squiggles into a fully fledged song.

Words and Vocals - Greeny, music - Flash Harry. Thanks for listening.

you know those old films where they're trying to fly?
their wings collapse in a jerky heap
dust and debacle in the hinterland
those crumpled wrecks - yeah, that's me

got no plumage to write home about
air rifles got their sights on me
getting high gives me vertigo
i'm an owl with issues sitting in a tree

fear of flying
those absurdist men in their flying machines
the sky's too big
to be messing with gravity

fear of flying
those absurdist men in their flying machines
the sky's too big
to be messing with gravity

just checking that my head's screwed on
for my passport photo at the chemist shop
window or aisle? I'll have neither, dear
fandango airlines with the wooden props

bermuda triangle, brazilian wax
Isaac Newton on his holiday
apples landing on his powdered wig
and flicking through the brochure with a takeaway

fear of flying
those absurdist men in their flying machines
the sky's too big
to be messing with gravity

fear of flying
those absurdist men in their flying machines
the sky's too big
to be messing with gravity

what goes up
must come down
We are here on Earth to fart around. Don't let anybody tell you any different

those big digital sounds are amazing for sure.... I especially like the little pretty keys that pop in ever so short....
Tim always does such and amazing job with words and singing...
(I) could have used a little Tim's guitar widdling for a few seconds somewhere....but that's just me....
really love the bright keys at the end...nice..

Brilliant song guys. Really digging the minimalist sorta indie synth vibe going on in this track. Everything blends so nicely, with those chorusy synth lines being the absolute icing on the cake. Great songwriting and vocals as well. This ones a real keeper...

It works great. A good post, definitely will stick in my head for a while.
Liking those sounds, and you can't go wrong with a Greeny collab.

I got a strong "synth pop vibe from the 80's". Fine backer and Tim's vocal works nicely - as always! Dreamy synth additions on places sound sooo sweet!

That was four pounds well spent I'd say :) brilliant track and collaboration. The synth and drums give it an 80's feel and with Tim's great vocals it reminded me a bit of Thomas Dolby from the 80's. nice one. :) darren

Very cool and inspiring tune FH and another great Greeny melody! Sounds to me like something Blur might have put out.
